Testamento de Isaque 12

1Agora, depois de dizer isso, Jacó abraçou seu Pai; ele beijou sua boca e chorou.

1Now when he had said this, Jacob embraced his Father; he kissed his mouth and wept.

2Nosso pai Isaac fixou os olhos nele e fez-lhe sinal para que ficasse em silêncio.

2Our father Isaac fixed his eyes on him and motioned to him to be silent.

3Nosso pai Isaque disse ao Senhor: Lembre-se do meu amado Jacó. O Senhor lhe disse: Meu poder estará com ele; e quando chegar a hora e eu me tornar homem e morrer e ressuscitar dentre os mortos no terceiro dia, porei o teu nome na mente de todos, e eles te invocarão como pai.

3Our father Isaac said to the Lord: Remember my beloved Jacob. The Lord said to him: My power shall be with him; and when the time comes and I become man and die and rise from the dead on the third day, I will put your name in everyone's mind, and they will invoke you as their father.

4Isaque disse a Jacó: Meu filho amado, este é o último mandamento que hoje te dou; fique de olho em si mesmo. Não desonre a imagem de Deus; pois o que você faz à imagem do homem, você faz à imagem de Deus, e Deus fará isso com você também no lugar onde você o encontrar.

4Isaac said to Jacob: My beloved son, this is the last commandment I give you today; keep a sharp eye on yourself. Do not dishonour the image of God; for what you do to the image of man, you do to the image of God, and God will do it to you too in the place where you will meet him.

5Este é o começo e o fim. Agora, depois de dizer isso, nosso Senhor tirou a alma do corpo, e ela ficou branca como a neve. Ele o saudou: colocou-o na carruagem com ele: ele o levou aos céus, com os serafins cantando diante dele, e todos os anjos e santos.

5This is the beginning and the end. Now when he had said this, our Lord brought his soul out of his body, and it was white as snow. He greeted it: he set it on the chariot with him: he took it up into the heavens, with the seraphim making music before him, and all the angels and the saints.

6Ele concedeu-lhe gratuitamente as coisas boas do seu reino para sempre, e todos os pedidos que nosso pai Abraão havia feito ao Senhor, ele lhe concedeu gratuitamente como uma aliança para sempre.

6He freely granted him the good things of his kingdom for ever, and all the requests our father Abraham had asked of the Lord he freely granted him as a covenant for ever.
