Testamento de Abraão 4

1E Abraão disse a Isaque, seu filho: Vai, meu filho amado, ao quarto interior da casa e embeleza-a. Espalhe para nós dois sofás, um para mim e outro para este homem que está conosco neste dia.

1And Abraham said to Isaac his son: Go, my beloved son, into the inner chamber of the house and beautify it. Spread for us there two couches, one for me and one for this man that is with us this day.

2Prepara-nos ali um assento e um castiçal e uma mesa com abundância de todas as coisas boas. Embeleze o quarto, meu filho, e espalhe sob nós linho, púrpura e linho fino.

2Prepare for us there a seat and a candlestick and a table with abundance of every good thing. Beautify the chamber, my son, and spread under us linen and purple and fine linen.

3Queime ali todo incenso precioso e excelente, e traga do jardim plantas cheirosas e encha nossa casa com elas. Acenda sete lâmpadas cheias de óleo, para que possamos nos alegrar, pois este homem que está conosco hoje é mais glorioso do que reis ou governantes, e sua aparência supera a de todos os filhos dos homens.

3Burn there every precious and excellent incense, and bring sweet-smelling plants from the garden and fill our house with them. Kindle seven lamps full of oil, so that we may rejoice, for this man that is with us this day is more glorious than kings or rulers, and his appearance surpasses all the sons of men.

4E Isaque preparou bem todas as coisas, e Abraão levando o arcanjo Miguel entrou na câmara, e ambos se sentaram nos sofás, e entre eles ele colocou uma mesa com abundância de todas as coisas boas.

4And Isaac prepared all things well, and Abraham taking the archangel Michael went into the chamber, and they both sat down upon the couches, and between them he placed a table with abundance of every good thing.

5Então o capitão-chefe levantou-se e saiu, como se estivesse comprimindo sua barriga para fazer fluxo de água, e subiu ao céu num piscar de olhos, e ficou diante do Senhor, e disse-lhe:

5Then the chief captain arose and went out, as if by constraint of his belly to make issue of water, and ascended to heaven in the twinkling of an eye, and stood before the Lord, and said to him:

6Senhor e Mestre, deixe seu poder saber que sou incapaz de lembrar aquele homem justo de sua morte, pois não vi na terra um homem como ele, lamentável, hospitaleiro, justo, verdadeiro, devoto, abstendo-se de toda má ação.

6Lord and Master, let your power know that I am unable to remind that righteous man of his death, for I have not seen upon the earth a man like him, pitiful, hospitable, righteous, truthful, devout, refraining from every evil deed.

7E agora saiba, Senhor, que não posso lembrá-lo de sua morte. E o Senhor disse: Desça, capitão-chefe Miguel, até meu amigo Abraão, e faça tudo o que ele lhe disser, e coma com ele tudo o que ele comer.

7And now know, Lord, that I cannot remind him of his death. And the Lord said: Go down, chief-captain Michael, to my friend Abraham, and do whatever he says to you, and eat with him whatever he eats.

8E enviarei o meu Espírito Santo sobre seu filho Isaque, e porei a lembrança de sua morte no coração de Isaque, para que até ele em sonho possa ver a morte de seu pai, e Isaque contará o sonho, e você o interpretará, e ele mesmo saberá o seu fim.

8And I will send my Holy Spirit upon his son Isaac, and will put the remembrance of his death into the heart of Isaac, so that even he in a dream may see the death of his father, and Isaac will relate the dream, and you shall interpret it, and he himself will know his end.

9E o capitão-chefe disse: Senhor, todos os espíritos celestiais são incorpóreos, e não comem nem bebem, e este homem colocou diante de mim uma mesa com abundância de todas as coisas boas terrenas e corruptíveis.

9And the chief-captain said, Lord, all the heavenly spirits are incorporeal, and neither eat nor drink, and this man has set before me a table with abundance of all good things earthly and corruptible.

10Agora, Senhor, o que devo fazer? Como escaparei dele, sentado à mesma mesa com ele? O Senhor disse: Desça até ele e não se preocupe com isso, pois quando você se sentar com ele, enviarei sobre você um espírito devorador, e ele consumirá de suas mãos e pela sua boca tudo o que estiver sobre a mesa.

10Now, Lord, what shall I do? How shall I escape him, sitting at one table with him? The Lord said: Go down to him, and take no thought for this, for when you sit down with him, I will send upon you a devouring spirit, and it will consume out of your hands and through your mouth all that is on the table.

11Alegrem-se junto com ele em tudo, só vocês interpretarão bem as coisas da visão, para que Abraão conheça a foice da morte e o fim incerto da vida, e possa dispor de todos os seus bens, pois eu o abençoei acima da areia do mar e como as estrelas do céu.

11Rejoice together with him in everything, only you shall interpret well the things of the vision, that Abraham may know the sickle of death and the uncertain end of life, and may make disposal of all his possessions, for I have blessed him above the sand of the sea and as the stars of heaven.
