Testamento de Abraão 2

1E o capitão-chefe partiu de diante da face de Deus, e desceu até Abraão até o carvalho de Mamre, e encontrou o justo Abraão no campo próximo, sentado ao lado de juntas de bois para arar, junto com os filhos de Masek e outros servos, em número de doze.

1And the chief-captain departed from before the face of God, and went down to Abraham to the oak of Mamre, and found the righteous Abraham in the field close by, sitting beside yokes of oxen for ploughing, together with the sons of Masek and other servants, to the number of twelve.

2E eis que o capitão-chefe veio até ele, e Abraão, vendo o capitão-chefe Miguel vindo de longe, como um guerreiro muito gracioso, levantou-se e encontrou-o como era seu costume, conhecendo e recebendo todos os estranhos.

2And behold, the chief-captain came to him, and Abraham, seeing the chief-captain Michael coming from afar, like to a very comely warrior, arose and met him as was his custom, meeting and entertaining all strangers.

3E o capitão-mor o saudou e disse: Salve, honrado pai, alma justa escolhida de Deus, verdadeiro filho do celestial.

3And the chief-captain saluted him and said: Hail, most honored father, righteous soul chosen of God, true son of the heavenly one.

4Abraão disse ao capitão-chefe: Salve, honrado guerreiro, brilhante como o sol e mais belo acima de todos os filhos dos homens; de nada; portanto, imploro a sua presença, diga-me de onde veio o jovem da sua idade; ensine-me, seu suplicante, de onde e de que exército e de que jornada sua beleza veio até aqui.

4Abraham said to the chief-captain: Hail, most honored warrior, bright as the sun and most beautiful above all the sons of men; you are welcome; therefore I beseech your presence, tell me whence the youth of your age has come; teach me, your suppliant, whence and from what army and from what journey your beauty has come hither.

5O capitão-chefe disse: Eu, ó justo Abraão, venho da grande cidade. Fui enviado pelo grande rei para ocupar o lugar de um bom amigo dele, pois o rei o convocou.

5The chief-captain said: I, O righteous Abraham, come from the great city. I have been sent by the great king to take the place of a good friend of his, for the king has summoned him.

6E disse Abraão: Vem, meu Senhor, vai comigo até ao meu campo. O capitão-mor disse: eu venho; e indo para o campo da lavoura, sentaram-se ao lado do grupo.

6And Abraham said, Come, my Lord, go with me as far as my field. The chief-captain said: I come; and going into the field of the ploughing, they sat down beside the company.

7E Abraão disse aos seus servos, os filhos de Masek: Vá até o rebanho de cavalos, e traga dois cavalos, quietos, mansos e mansos, para que eu e este estranho possamos sentar neles.

7And Abraham said to his servants, the sons of Masek: Go to the herd of horses, and bring two horses, quiet, and gentle and tame, so that I and this stranger may sit thereon.

8Mas o capitão-chefe disse: Não, meu Senhor, Abraão, não deixe que tragam cavalos, pois me abstenho de montar em qualquer animal de quatro patas. Não é o meu rei rico em muitas mercadorias, tendo poder tanto sobre os homens como sobre toda espécie de gado? Mas me abstenho de sentar em qualquer animal de quatro patas.

8But the chief-captain said, Nay, my Lord, Abraham, let them not bring horses, for I abstain from ever sitting upon any four-footed beast. Is not my king rich in much merchandise, having power both over men and all kinds of cattle? But I abstain from ever sitting upon any four-footed beast.

9Vamos então, ó alma justa, caminhando com leveza até chegarmos à sua casa. E Abraão disse: Amém, assim seja.

9Let us go, then, O righteous soul, walking lightly until we reach your house. And Abraham said, Amen, be it so.
