Testamento de Abraão 18

1E o todo santo Abraão, vendo essas coisas assim, disse à Morte, eu te imploro, Morte destruidora, esconda sua ferocidade, e vista sua beleza e a forma que você tinha antes.

1And the all-holy Abraham, seeing these things thus, said to Death, I beseech you, all-destroying Death, hide your fierceness, and put on your beauty and the shape which you had before.

2E imediatamente a Morte escondeu sua ferocidade e vestiu a beleza que tinha antes.

2And straightway Death hid his fierceness, and put on his beauty which he had before.

3E Abraão disse à Morte: Por que você fez isso, matando todos os meus servos e servas? Deus enviou você aqui para este fim neste dia?

3And Abraham said to Death, Why have you done this, that you have slain all my servants and maidservants? Has God sent you hither for this end this day?

4A morte disse: Não, meu Senhor Abraão, não é como você diz, mas por sua causa fui enviado para cá.

4Death said, Nay, my Lord Abraham, it is not as you say, but on your account was I sent hither.

5Abraão disse à Morte: Como então morreram estes? O Senhor não falou isso?

5Abraham said to Death, How then have these died? Has the Lord not spoken it?

6A morte disse: Creia, justo Abraão, que isto também é maravilhoso, que você também não tenha sido levado com eles.

6Death said, Believe, most righteous Abraham, that this also is wonderful, that you also were not taken away with them.

7Contudo, digo-vos a verdade, pois se a destra de Deus não estivesse com vocês naquele tempo, vocês também teriam que partir desta vida.

7Nevertheless I tell you the truth, for if the right hand of God had not been with you at that time, you also would have had to depart from this life.

8O justo Abraão disse: Agora eu sei que entrei na indiferença da morte, de modo que meu espírito desfalece, mas eu te suplico, Morte destruidora, já que meus servos morreram antes do tempo, venha, oremos ao Senhor nosso Deus para que ele nos ouça e ressuscite aqueles que morreram por sua ferocidade antes do tempo.

8The righteous Abraham said, Now I know that I have come into indifference of death, so that my spirit fails, but I beseech you, all-destroying Death, since my servants have died before their time, come let us pray to the Lord our God that he may hear us and raise up those who died by your fierceness before their time.

9E a Morte disse: Amém, que assim seja.

9And Death said, Amen, be it so.

10Portanto Abraão levantou-se e prostrou-se por terra em oração, e a Morte junto com ele, e o Senhor enviou um espírito de vida sobre aqueles que estavam mortos e eles foram vivificados novamente.

10Therefore Abraham arose and fell upon the face of the ground in prayer, and Death together with him, and the Lord sent a spirit of life upon those that were dead and they were made alive again.

11Então o justo Abraão deu glória a Deus.

11Then the righteous Abraham gave glory to God.
