Testamento de Abraão 14

1E Abraão disse ao capitão-chefe: Meu Senhor, o capitão-chefe, a alma que o anjo segurava em sua mão, por que foi julgada que seria colocada no meio?

1And Abraham said to the chief-captain, My Lord the chief-captain, the soul which the angel held in his hand, why was it adjudged to be set in the midst?

2O capitão-chefe disse: Ouça, justo Abraão. Porque o juiz considerou seus pecados e suas justiças iguais, ele não os entregou para julgamento nem para ser salvo, até que o juiz de todos venha.

2The chief-captain said, Listen, righteous Abraham. Because the judge found its sins and its righteousnesses equal, he neither committed it to judgment nor to be saved, until the judge of all shall come.

3Abraão disse ao capitão-chefe: E o que ainda falta para a alma ser salva? O capitão-chefe disse: Se obtiver uma justiça acima de seus pecados, entrará na salvação.

3Abraham said to the chief-captain, And what yet is wanting for the soul to be saved? The chief-captain said, If it obtains one righteousness above its sins, it enters into salvation.

4Abraão disse ao capitão-chefe: Venha aqui, capitão-chefe Miguel, vamos orar por esta alma e ver se Deus nos ouvirá. O capitão-chefe disse: Amém, assim seja; e eles fizeram oração e súplica pela alma, e Deus os ouviu, e quando eles se levantaram de sua oração, não viram a alma parada ali.

4Abraham said to the chief-captain, Come hither, chief-captain Michael, let us make prayer for this soul, and see whether God will hear us. The chief-captain said, Amen, be it so; and they made prayer and entreaty for the soul, and God heard them, and when they rose up from their prayer they did not see the soul standing there.

5E Abraão disse ao anjo: Onde está a alma que você segurava no meio? E o anjo respondeu: Ele foi salvo por sua oração justa, e eis que um anjo de luz o pegou e o carregou para o Paraíso.

5And Abraham said to the angel, Where is the soul that you held in the midst? And the angel answered, It has been saved by your righteous prayer, and behold an angel of light has taken it and carried it up into Paradise.

6Abraão disse: Eu glorifico o nome de Deus, o Altíssimo, e sua imensurável misericórdia.

6Abraham said, I glorify the name of God, the Most High, and his immeasurable mercy.

7E Abraão disse ao capitão-chefe, eu te suplico, arcanjo, ouça minha oração, e vamos ainda invocar o Senhor, e suplicar sua compaixão, e implorar sua misericórdia pelas almas dos pecadores a quem eu anteriormente, em minha ira, amaldiçoei e destruí, a quem a terra devorou, e as feras despedaçaram, e o fogo consumiu através de minhas palavras.

7And Abraham said to the chief-captain, I beseech you, archangel, hearken to my prayer, and let us yet call upon the Lord, and supplicate his compassion, and entreat his mercy for the souls of the sinners whom I formerly, in my anger, cursed and destroyed, whom the earth devoured, and the wild beasts tore in pieces, and the fire consumed through my words.

8Agora sei que pequei diante do Senhor nosso Deus. Venha então, ó Miguel, capitão-chefe das hostes acima, venha, vamos invocar a Deus com lágrimas para que ele possa me perdoar meus pecados e concedê-los a mim.

8Now I know that I have sinned before the Lord our God. Come then, O Michael, chief-captain of the hosts above, come, let us call upon God with tears that he may forgive me my sin, and grant them to me.

9E o capitão-chefe o ouviu, e eles suplicaram diante do Senhor, e quando o invocaram por um longo espaço, veio uma voz do céu dizendo:

9And the chief-captain heard him, and they made entreaty before the Lord, and when they had called upon him for a long space, there came a voice from heaven saying,

10Abraão, Abraão, eu ouvi sua voz e sua oração, e perdoei seu pecado, e aqueles a quem você pensa que eu destruí, eu convoquei e os trouxe à vida por minha extrema bondade, porque por um período eu os retribuí em julgamento, e aqueles a quem eu destruo vivendo na terra, não retribuirei na morte.

10Abraham, Abraham, I have hearkened to your voice and your prayer, and forgive you your sin, and those whom you think that I destroyed I have called up and brought them into life by my exceeding kindness, because for a season I have requited them in judgment, and those whom I destroy living upon earth, I will not requite in death.
