Testamento de Abraão 12

1Enquanto ele ainda estava me dizendo essas coisas, eis dois anjos, de aspecto ardente, de mente impiedosa e de aparência severa, e eles perseguiam milhares de almas, açoitando-as impiedosamente com tiras de fogo.

1While he was yet saying these things to me, behold two angels, fiery in aspect, and pitiless in mind, and severe in look, and they drove on thousands of souls, pitilessly lashing them with fiery thongs.

2O anjo apoderou-se de uma alma, e eles conduziram todas as almas pela porta larga para a destruição.

2The angel laid hold of one soul, and they drove all the souls in at the broad gate to destruction.

3Então nós também seguimos com os anjos e entramos naquele portão largo, e entre os dois portões estava um trono de aspecto terrível, de cristal terrível, brilhando como fogo, e sobre ele estava sentado um homem maravilhoso, brilhante como o sol, semelhante ao Filho de Deus.

3So we also went along with the angels, and came within that broad gate, and between the two gates stood a throne terrible of aspect, of terrible crystal, gleaming as fire, and upon it sat a wondrous man bright as the sun, like to the Son of God.

4Diante dele havia uma mesa semelhante a cristal, toda de ouro e linho fino, e sobre a mesa havia um livro, com seis côvados de espessura e dez côvados de largura, e à direita e à esquerda estavam dois anjos segurando papel, tinta e caneta.

4Before him stood a table like crystal, all of gold and fine linen, and upon the table there was lying a book, the thickness of it six cubits, and the breadth of it ten cubits, and on the right and left of it stood two angels holding paper and ink and pen.

5Diante da mesa estava sentado um anjo de luz, segurando uma balança na mão, e à sua esquerda estava sentado um anjo todo ardente, impiedoso e severo, segurando na mão uma trombeta, tendo dentro dela um fogo que tudo consome para tentar os pecadores.

5Before the table sat an angel of light, holding in his hand a balance, and on his left sat an angel all fiery, pitiless, and severe, holding in his hand a trumpet, having within it all-consuming fire with which to try the sinners.

6O homem maravilhoso que estava sentado no trono julgou e sentenciou as almas, e os dois anjos à direita e à esquerda escreveram, o da direita a justiça e o da esquerda a maldade.

6The wondrous man who sat upon the throne himself judged and sentenced the souls, and the two angels on the right and on the left wrote down, the one on the right the righteousness and the one on the left the wickedness.

7Aquele que estava diante da mesa, que segurava a balança, pesava as almas, e o anjo de fogo, que segurava o fogo, provava as almas.

7The one before the table, who held the balance, weighed the souls, and the fiery angel, who held the fire, tried the souls.

8E Abraão perguntou ao capitão-mor Miguel: O que é isto que vemos?

8And Abraham asked the chief-captain Michael, What is this that we behold?

9E o capitão-chefe disse: Estas coisas que você vê, santo Abraão, são o julgamento e a recompensa.

9And the chief-captain said, These things that you see, holy Abraham, are the judgment and recompense.

10E eis que o anjo segurava a alma em sua mão e a trouxe perante o juiz, e o juiz disse a um dos anjos que o serviam: Abra-me este livro e encontre-me os pecados desta alma.

10And behold the angel holding the soul in his hand, and he brought it before the judge, and the judge said to one of the angels that served him, Open me this book, and find me the sins of this soul.

11E abrindo o livro ele encontrou seus pecados e sua justiça igualmente equilibrados, e ele não o deu aos algozes, nem aos que foram salvos, mas o colocou no meio.

11And opening the book he found its sins and its righteousness equally balanced, and he neither gave it to the tormentors, nor to those that were saved, but set it in the midst.
