Salmos 79

1Ó Deus, os gentios vieram à tua herança; contaminaram o teu santo templo; reduziram Jerusalém a montões de pedras.

1A Psalm of Asaph.] O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance; thy holy temple have they defiled; they have laid Jerusalem on heaps. {of: or, for}

2Deram os corpos mortos dos teus servos por comida às aves dos céus, e a carne dos teus santos às feras da terra.

2The dead bodies of thy servants have they given {to be} meat unto the fowls of the heaven, the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.

3Derramaram o sangue deles como a água ao redor de Jerusalém, e não houve quem os enterrasse.

3Their blood have they shed like water round about Jerusalem; and {there was} none to bury {them}.

4Somos feitos opróbrio para nossos vizinhos, escárnio e zombaria para os que estão à roda de nós.

4We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

5Até quando, Senhor? Acaso te indignarás para sempre? Arderá o teu zelo como fogo?

5How long, LORD? wilt thou be angry for ever? shall thy jealousy burn like fire?

6Derrama o teu furor sobre os gentios que não te conhecem, e sobre os reinos que não invocam o teu nome.

6Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.

7Porque devoraram a Jacó, e assolaram as suas moradas.

7For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

8Não te lembres das nossas iniqüidades passadas; venham ao nosso encontro depressa as tuas misericórdias, pois já estamos muito abatidos.

8O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low. {former...: or, the iniquities of them that were before us}

9Ajuda-nos, ó Deus da nossa salvação, pela glória do teu nome; e livra-nos, e perdoa os nossos pecados por amor do teu nome.

9Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name: and deliver us, and purge away our sins, for thy name's sake.

10Porque diriam os gentios: Onde está o seu Deus? Seja ele conhecido entre os gentios, à nossa vista, pela vingança do sangue dos teus servos, que foi derramado.

10Wherefore should the heathen say, Where {is} their God? let him be known among the heathen in our sight {by} the revenging of the blood of thy servants {which is} shed. {revenging: Heb. vengeance}

11Venha perante a tua face o gemido dos presos; segundo a grandeza do teu braço preserva aqueles que estão sentenciados à morte.

11Let the sighing of the prisoner come before thee; according to the greatness of thy power preserve thou those that are appointed to die; {thy...: Heb. thine arm} {preserve...: Heb. reserve the children of death}

12E torna aos nossos vizinhos, no seu regaço, sete vezes tanto da sua injúria com a qual te injuriaram, Senhor.

12And render unto our neighbours sevenfold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.

13Assim nós, teu povo e ovelhas de teu pasto, te louvaremos eternamente; de geração em geração cantaremos os teus louvores.

13So we thy people and sheep of thy pasture will give thee thanks for ever: we will shew forth thy praise to all generations. {to all...: Heb. to generation and generation}
