Salmos 74

1Ó Deus, por que nos rejeitaste para sempre? Por que se acende a tua ira contra as ovelhas do teu pasto?

1Maschil of Asaph.] O God, why hast thou cast {us} off for ever? {why} doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture? {Maschil...: or, A Psalm for Asaph to give instruction}

2Lembra-te da tua congregação, que compraste desde a antiguidade; da vara da tua herança, que remiste; deste monte Sião, em que habitaste.

2Remember thy congregation, {which} thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, {which} thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. {rod: or, tribe}

3Levanta os teus pés para as perpétuas assolações, para tudo o que o inimigo tem feito de mal no santuário.

3Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; {even} all {that} the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary.

4Os teus inimigos bramam no meio dos teus lugares santos; põem neles as suas insígnias por sinais.

4Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns {for} signs.

5Um homem se tornava famoso, conforme houvesse levantado machados, contra a espessura do arvoredo.

5{A man} was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees.

6Mas agora toda obra entalhada de uma vez quebram com machados e martelos.

6But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers.

7Lançaram fogo no teu santuário; profanaram, derrubando-a até ao chão, a morada do teu nome.

7They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled {by casting down} the dwelling place of thy name to the ground. {They have cast...: Heb. They have sent thy sanctuary unto the fire}

8Disseram nos seus corações: Despojemo-los duma vez. Queimaram todos os lugares santos de Deus na terra.

8They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. {destroy: Heb. break}

9Já não vemos os nossos sinais, já não há profeta, nem há entre nós alguém que saiba até quando isto durará.

9We see not our signs: {there is} no more any prophet: neither {is there} among us any that knoweth how long.

10Até quando, ó Deus, nos afrontará o adversário? Blasfemará o inimigo o teu nome para sempre?

10O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?

11Porque retiras a tua mão, a saber, a tua destra? Tira-a de dentro do teu seio.

11Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck {it} out of thy bosom.

12Todavia Deus é o meu Rei desde a antiguidade, operando a salvação no meio da terra.

12For God {is} my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

13Tu dividiste o mar pela tua força; quebrantaste as cabeças das baleias nas águas.

13Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. {divide: Heb. break} {dragons: or, whales}

14Fizeste em pedaços as cabeças do leviatã, e o deste por mantimento aos habitantes do deserto.

14Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, {and} gavest him {to be} meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness.

15Fendeste a fonte e o ribeiro; secaste os rios impetuosos.

15Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers. {mighty...: Heb. rivers of strength}

16Teu é o dia e tua é a noite; preparaste a luz e o sol.

16The day {is} thine, the night also {is} thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun.

17Estabeleceste todos os limites da terra; verão e inverno tu os formaste.

17Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter. {made: Heb. made them}

18Lembra-te disto: que o inimigo afrontou ao Senhor e que um povo louco blasfemou o teu nome.

18Remember this, {that} the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and {that} the foolish people have blasphemed thy name.

19Não entregues às feras a alma da tua rola; não te esqueças para sempre da vida dos teus aflitos.

19O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude {of the wicked}: forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever.

20Atende a tua aliança; pois os lugares tenebrosos da terra estão cheios de moradas de crueldade.

20Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.

21Oh, não volte envergonhado o oprimido; louvem o teu nome o aflito e o necessitado.

21O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name.

22Levanta-te, ó Deus, pleiteia a tua própria causa; lembra-te da afronta que o louco te faz cada dia.

22Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily.

23Não te esqueças dos gritos dos teus inimigos; o tumulto daqueles que se levantam contra ti aumenta continuamente.

23Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually. {increaseth: Heb. ascendeth}
