Salmos 49

1Ouvi isto, vós todos os povos; inclinai os ouvidos, todos os moradores do mundo,

1To the chief Musician, A Psalm for the sons of Korah.] Hear this, all {ye} people; give ear, all {ye} inhabitants of the world: {for: or, of}

2Tanto baixos como altos, tanto ricos como pobres.

2Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

3A minha boca falará de sabedoria, e a meditação do meu coração será de entendimento.

3My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart {shall be} of understanding.

4Inclinarei os meus ouvidos a uma parábola; declararei o meu enigma na harpa.

4I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.

5Por que temerei eu nos dias maus, quando me cercar a iniqüidade dos que me armam ciladas?

5Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, {when} the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

6Aqueles que confiam na sua fazenda, e se gloriam na multidão das suas riquezas,

6They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

7Nenhum deles de modo algum pode remir a seu irmão, ou dar a Deus o resgate dele.

7None {of them} can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

8(Pois a redenção da sua alma é caríssima, e cessará para sempre),

8(For the redemption of their soul {is} precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)

9Para que viva para sempre, e não veja corrupção.

9That he should still live for ever, {and} not see corruption.

10Porque ele vê que os sábios morrem; perecem igualmente tanto o louco como o brutal, e deixam a outros os seus bens.

10For he seeth {that} wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

11O seu pensamento interior é que as suas casas serão perpétuas e as suas habitações de geração em geração; dão às suas terras os seus próprios nomes.

11Their inward thought {is, that} their houses {shall continue} for ever, {and} their dwelling places to all generations; they call {their} lands after their own names. {all...: Heb. generation and generation}

12Todavia o homem que está em honra não permanece; antes é como os animais, que perecem.

12Nevertheless man {being} in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts {that} perish.

13Este caminho deles é a sua loucura; contudo a sua posteridade aprova as suas palavras. (Selá.)

13This their way {is} their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah. {approve...: Heb. delight in their mouth}

14Como ovelhas são postos na sepultura; a morte se alimentará deles e os retos terão domínio sobre eles na manhã, e a sua formosura se consumirá na sepultura, a habitação deles.

14Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling. {beauty: or, strength} {in the grave from...: or, the grave being an habitation to every one of them}

15Mas Deus remirá a minha alma do poder da sepultura, pois me receberá. (Selá.)

15But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. {power: Heb. hand} {the grave: or, hell}

16Não temas, quando alguém se enriquece, quando a glória da sua casa se engrandece.

16Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

17Porque, quando morrer, nada levará consigo, nem a sua glória o acompanhará.

17For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.

18Ainda que na sua vida ele bendisse a sua alma; e os homens te louvarão, quando fizeres bem a ti mesmo,

18Though while he lived he blessed his soul: and {men} will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself. {while...: Heb. in his life}

19Irá para a geração de seus pais; eles nunca verão a luz.

19He shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light. {He...: Heb. The soul shall}

20O homem que está em honra, e não tem entendimento, é semelhante aos animais, que perecem.

20Man {that is} in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts {that} perish.
