Salmos 17

1Ouve, SENHOR, a justiça; atende ao meu clamor; dá ouvidos à minha oração, que não é feita com lábios enganosos.

1A Prayer of David.] Hear the right, O LORD, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, {that goeth} not out of feigned lips. {the right: Heb. justice} {not...: Heb. without lips of deceit}

2Saia a minha sentença de diante do teu rosto; atendam os teus olhos à razão.

2Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal.

3Provaste o meu coração; visitaste-me de noite; examinaste-me, e nada achaste; propus que a minha boca não transgredirá.

3Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited {me} in the night; thou hast tried me, {and} shalt find nothing; I am purposed {that} my mouth shall not transgress.

4Quanto ao trato dos homens, pela palavra dos teus lábios me guardei das veredas do destruidor.

4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept {me from} the paths of the destroyer.

5Dirige os meus passos nos teus caminhos, para que as minhas pegadas não vacilem.

5Hold up my goings in thy paths, {that} my footsteps slip not. {slip...: Heb. be not moved}

6Eu te invoquei, ó Deus, pois me queres ouvir; inclina para mim os teus ouvidos, e escuta as minhas palavras.

6I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, {and hear} my speech.

7Faze maravilhosas as tuas beneficências, ó tu que livras aqueles que em ti confiam dos que se levantam contra a tua destra.

7Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou that savest by thy right hand them which put their trust {in thee} from those that rise up {against them}. {by thy...: or, them which trust in thee from those that rise up against thy right hand}

8Guarda-me como à menina do olho; esconde-me debaixo da sombra das tuas asas,

8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

9Dos ímpios que me oprimem, dos meus inimigos mortais que me andam cercando.

9From the wicked that oppress me, {from} my deadly enemies, {who} compass me about. {oppress: Heb. waste} {my...: Heb. my enemies against the soul}

10Na sua gordura se encerram, com a boca falam soberbamente.

10They are inclosed in their own fat: with their mouth they speak proudly.

11Têm-nos cercado agora nossos passos; e baixaram os seus olhos para a terra;

11They have now compassed us in our steps: they have set their eyes bowing down to the earth;

12Parecem-se com o leão que deseja arrebatar a sua presa, e com o leãozinho que se põe em esconderijos.

12Like as a lion {that} is greedy of his prey, and as it were a young lion lurking in secret places. {Like...: Heb. The likeness of him (that is, of every one of them) is as a lion that desireth to ravin} {lurking: Heb. sitting}

13Levanta-te, Senhor, detém-no, derriba-o, livra a minha alma do ímpio, com a tua espada;

13Arise, O LORD, disappoint him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, {which is} thy sword: {disappoint...: Heb. prevent his face} {which is: or, by}

14Dos homens com a tua mão, Senhor, dos homens do mundo, cuja porção está nesta vida, e cujo ventre enches do teu tesouro oculto. Estão fartos de filhos e dão os seus sobejos às suas crianças.

14From men {which are} thy hand, O LORD, from men of the world, {which have} their portion in {this} life, and whose belly thou fillest with thy hid {treasure}: they are full of children, and leave the rest of their {substance} to their babes. {which are: or, by} {they...: or, their children are full}

15Quanto a mim, contemplarei a tua face na justiça; eu me satisfarei da tua semelhança quando acordar.

15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.
