Salmos 137

1Junto aos rios da Babilônia, ali nos assentamos e choramos, quando nos lembramos de Sião.

1By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.

2Sobre os salgueiros que há no meio dela, penduramos as nossas harpas.

2We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

3Pois lá aqueles que nos levaram cativos nos pediam uma canção; e os que nos destruíram, que os alegrássemos, dizendo: Cantai-nos uma das canções de Sião.

3For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us {required of us} mirth, {saying}, Sing us {one} of the songs of Zion. {a song: Heb. the words of a song} {wasted...: Heb. laid us on heaps}

4Como cantaremos a canção do Senhor em terra estranha?

4How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land? {strange...: Heb. land of a stranger?}

5Se eu me esquecer de ti, ó Jerusalém, esqueça-se a minha direita da sua destreza.

5If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget {her cunning}.

6Se me não lembrar de ti, apegue-se-me a língua ao meu paladar; se não preferir Jerusalém à minha maior alegria.

6If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy. {my chief...: Heb. the head of my joy}

7Lembra-te, Senhor, dos filhos de Edom no dia de Jerusalém, que diziam: Descobri-a, descobri-a até aos seus alicerces.

7Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase {it}, rase {it, even} to the foundation thereof. {Rase it: Heb. Make bare}

8Ah! filha de babilônia, que vais ser assolada; feliz aquele que te retribuir o pago que tu nos pagaste a nós.

8O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy {shall he be}, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. {destroyed: Heb. wasted} {rewardeth...: Heb. recompenseth unto thee thy deed which thou didst to us}

9Feliz aquele que pegar em teus filhos e der com eles nas pedras.

9Happy {shall he be}, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones. {the stones: Heb. the rock}
