Sabedoria de Salomão 6

1Ouvi, pois, ó reis, e entendei; aprendei vós que governais o universo!*

1Hear therefore, O ye kings, and understand; learn, ye that be judges of the ends of the earth.

2Prestai ouvidos, vós que reinais sobre as nações e vos gloriais do número de vossos povos!

2Give ear, ye that rule the people, and glory in the multitude of nations.

3Porque é do Senhor que recebestes o poder, e é do Altíssimo que tendes o poderio; é ele que examinará vossas obras e sondará vossos pensamentos!*

3For power is given you of the Lord, and sovereignty from the Highest, who shall try your works, and search out your counsels.

4Se, ministros do reino, vós não julgastes equitativamente, nem observastes a Lei, nem andastes segundo a vontade de Deus,

4Because, being ministers of his kingdom, ye have not judged aright, nor kept the law, nor walked after the counsel of God;

5ele se apresentará a vós, terrível, inesperado, porque aqueles que dominam serão rigorosamente julgados.

5Horribly and speedily shall he come upon you: for a sharp judgment shall be to them that be in high places.

6Ao menor, com efeito, a compaixão atrai o perdão, mas os poderosos serão examinados sem piedade.

6For mercy will soon pardon the meanest: but mighty men shall be mightily tormented.

7O Senhor de todos não fará exceção para ninguém, e não se deixará impor pela grandeza, porque, pequenos ou grandes, é ele que a todos criou, e de todos cuida igualmente;*

7For he which is Lord over all shall fear no man’s person, neither shall he stand in awe of any man’s greatness: for he hath made the small and great, and careth for all alike.

8mas para os poderosos o julgamento será severo.

8But a sore trial shall come upon the mighty.

9É a vós, pois, ó príncipes, que me dirijo, para que aprendais a sabedoria e não resvaleis,

9Unto you therefore, O kings, do I speak, that ye may learn wisdom, and not fall away.

10porque aqueles que santamente observarem as santas leis serão santificados, e os que as tiverem estudado poderão justificar-se.

10For they that keep holiness holily shall be judged holy: and they that have learned such things shall find what to answer.

11Ansiai, pois, pelas minhas palavras, reclamai-as ardentemente e sereis instruídos.

11Wherefore set your affection upon my words; desire them, and ye shall be instructed.

12Resplandecente é a sabedoria, e sua beleza é inalterável: os que a amam, descobrem-na facilmente.

12Wisdom is glorious, and never fadeth away: yea, she is easily seen of them that love her, and found of such as seek her.

13Os que a procuram encontram-na. Ela antecipa-se aos que a desejam.

13She preventeth them that desire her, in making herself first known unto them.

14Quem, para possuí-la, levanta-se de madrugada não terá trabalho, porque a encontrará sentada à sua porta.

14Whoso seeketh her early shall have no great travail: for he shall find her sitting at his doors.

15Fazê-la objeto de seus pensamentos é a prudência perfeita, e quem por ela vigia, em breve não terá mais cuidado.

15To think therefore upon her is perfection of wisdom: and whoso watcheth for her shall quickly be without care.

16Ela mesma vai à procura dos que são dignos dela; ela lhes aparece nos caminhos cheia de benevolência, e vai ao encontro deles em todos os seus pensamentos,

16For she goeth about seeking such as are worthy of her, sheweth herself favourably unto them in the ways, and meeteth them in every thought.

17porque, verdadeiramente, desde o começo, seu desejo é instruir, e desejar instruir-se é amá-la.

17For the very true beginning of her is the desire of discipline; and the care of discipline is love;

18Mas amá-la é obedecer às suas leis, e obedecer às suas leis é a garantia da imortalidade.

18And love is the keeping of her laws; and the giving heed unto her laws is the assurance of incorruption;

19Ora, a imortalidade faz habitar junto de Deus;

19And incorruption maketh us near unto God:

20assim o desejo da sabedoria conduz ao Reino!

20Therefore the desire of wisdom bringeth to a kingdom.

21Se, pois, cetros e tronos vos agradam, ó vós que governais os povos, honrai a sabedoria, e reinareis eternamente.

21If your delight be then in thrones and sceptres, O ye kings of the people, honour wisdom, that ye may reign for evermore.

22Mas eu vou dizer o que é a sabedoria e como ela nasceu. Não vos esconderei os seus mistérios; mas a investigarei até sua mais remota origem; porei à luz o que dela pode ser conhecido, e não me afastarei da verdade.

22As for wisdom, what she is, and how she came up, I will tell you, and will not hide mysteries from you: but will seek her out from the beginning of her nativity, and bring the knowledge of her into light, and will not pass over the truth.

23Não imitarei aquele a quem a inveja consome, porque esse tal não tem nada a ver com a sabedoria:*

23Neither will I go with consuming envy; for such a man shall have no fellowship with wisdom.

24é no grande número de sábios que se encontra a salvação do mundo, e um rei sensato faz a prosperidade de seu povo.

24But the multitude of the wise is the welfare of the world: and a wise king is the upholding of the people.

25Deixai-vos, pois, instruir por minhas palavras, e nelas encontrareis grande proveito.

25Receive therefore instruction through my words, and it shall do you good.
