Romanos 3

1Qual é logo a vantagem do judeu? Ou qual a utilidade da circuncisão?

1What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit {is there} of circumcision?

2Muita, em toda a maneira, porque, primeiramente, as palavras de Deus lhe foram confiadas.

2Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

3Pois quê? Se alguns foram incrédulos, a sua incredulidade aniquilará a fidelidade de Deus?

3For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?

4De maneira nenhuma; sempre seja Deus verdadeiro, e todo o homem mentiroso; como está escrito:Para que sejas justificado em tuas palavras,E venças quando fores julgado.

4God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

5E, se a nossa injustiça for causa da justiça de Deus, que diremos? Porventura será Deus injusto, trazendo ira sobre nós? (Falo como homem. )

5But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? {Is} God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)

6De maneira nenhuma; de outro modo, como julgará Deus o mundo?

6God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

7Mas, se pela minha mentira abundou mais a verdade de Deus para glória sua, por que sou eu ainda julgado também como pecador?

7For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

8E por que não dizemos (como somos blasfemados, e como alguns dizem que dizemos): Façamos males, para que venham bens? A condenação desses é justa.

8And not {rather}, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.

9Pois quê? Somos nós mais excelentes? De maneira nenhuma, pois já dantes demonstramos que, tanto judeus como gregos, todos estão debaixo do pecado;

9What then? are we better {than they}? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; {proved: Gr. charged}

10Como está escrito:Não há um justo, nem um sequer.

10As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

11Não há ninguém que entenda;Não há ninguém que busque a Deus.

11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

12Todos se extraviaram, e juntamente se fizeram inúteis.Não há quem faça o bem, não há nem um só.

12They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

13A sua garganta é um sepulcro aberto;Com as suas línguas tratam enganosamente;Peçonha de áspides está debaixo de seus lábios;

13Their throat {is} an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps {is} under their lips:

14Cuja boca está cheia de maldição e amargura.

14Whose mouth {is} full of cursing and bitterness:

15Os seus pés são ligeiros para derramar sangue.

15Their feet {are} swift to shed blood:

16Em seus caminhos há destruição e miséria;

16Destruction and misery {are} in their ways:

17E não conheceram o caminho da paz.

17And the way of peace have they not known:

18Não há temor de Deus diante de seus olhos.

18There is no fear of God before their eyes.

19Ora, nós sabemos que tudo o que a lei diz, aos que estão debaixo da lei o diz, para que toda a boca esteja fechada e todo o mundo seja condenável diante de Deus.

19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. {guilty...: or, subject to the judgment of God}

20Por isso nenhuma carne será justificada diante dele pelas obras da lei, porque pela lei vem o conhecimento do pecado.

20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law {is} the knowledge of sin.

21Mas agora se manifestou sem a lei a justiça de Deus, tendo o testemunho da lei e dos profetas;

21But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

22Isto é, a justiça de Deus pela fé em Jesus Cristo para todos e sobre todos os que crêem; porque não há diferença.

22Even the righteousness of God {which is} by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

23Porque todos pecaram e destituídos estão da glória de Deus;

23For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

24Sendo justificados gratuitamente pela sua graça, pela redenção que há em Cristo Jesus.

24Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

25Ao qual Deus propôs para propiciação pela fé no seu sangue, para demonstrar a sua justiça pela remissão dos pecados dantes cometidos, sob a paciência de Deus;

25Whom God hath set forth {to be} a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; {set forth: or, foreordained} {remission: or, passing over}

26Para demonstração da sua justiça neste tempo presente, para que ele seja justo e justificador daquele que tem fé em Jesus.

26To declare, {I say}, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

27Onde está logo a jactância? É excluída. Por qual lei? Das obras? Não; mas pela lei da fé.

27Where {is} boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

28Concluímos, pois, que o homem é justificado pela fé sem as obras da lei.

28Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

29É porventura Deus somente dos judeus? E não o é também dos gentios? Também dos gentios, certamente,

29{Is he} the God of the Jews only? {is he} not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

30Visto que Deus é um só, que justifica pela fé a circuncisão, e por meio da fé a incircuncisão.

30Seeing {it is} one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

31Anulamos, pois, a lei pela fé? De maneira nenhuma, antes estabelecemos a lei.

31Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
