1Então os anciãos dos bem-aventurados me entregaram a um dos atendentes, dizendo: Guarda-o sete dias.

1Then the elders of the blessed gave me over to one of the attendants, saying, Keep him for seven days.

2Então o atendente que me recebeu me levou até sua caverna e nos sentamos sob uma árvore para comer.

2So the attendant receiving me led me to his cave, and we sat under a tree partaking of food.

3Pois desde a hora sexta até a sexta, então comemos, e da raiz da árvore saiu água mais doce que o mel, e bebemos até nos fartarmos, e novamente a água desceu para o seu lugar.

3For from the sixth hour even to the sixth, then we ate, and the water came out from the root of the tree sweeter than honey, and we drank our fill, and again the water sank down into its place.

4E todo o país daqueles de lá ouviu falar de mim, que havia chegado lá um homem da vaidade do mundo, e todo o país ficou agitado, e eles vieram me ver porque parecia estranho para eles.

4And all the country of those there heard of me, that there had come thither a man out of the vanity of the world, and all the country was stirred up, and they came to see me because it seemed strange to them.

5Portanto, eles me perguntavam todas as coisas e eu lhes respondia, e fiquei fraco de espírito e de corpo, e implorei ao homem de Deus que me servia, e disse: Rogo-te, irmão, se alguém vier me ver, diga-lhes que Ele não está aqui, para que eu possa descansar um pouco.

5Therefore they were asking me all things and I was answering them, and I became faint in spirit and in body, and besought the man of God that served me, and said, I beseech thee, brother, if any come to see me, tell them He is not here, so that I may rest a little.

6E o homem de Deus clamou dizendo: Ai de mim, que a história de Adão está resumida em mim, pois Satanás o enganou através de Eva, e este homem com sua lisonja deseja fazer de mim um mentiroso enquanto ele estiver aqui.

6And the man of God cried out saying, Woe is me, that the story of Adam is summed up in me, for Satan deceived him through Eve, and this man by his flattery desires to make me a liar while he is here.

7Leve-me daqui, pois fugirei daquele lugar.

7Take me away from hence, for I shall flee from the place.

8Pois eis que ele deseja semear em mim sementes do mundo da vaidade.

8For behold he wishes to sow in me seeds of the world of vanity.

9E toda a multidão e os anciãos se levantaram contra mim e disseram: Afasta-te de nós, homem; não sabemos de onde você veio até nós.

9And all the multitude and the elders rose up against me, and said, Depart from us, man; we know not whence thou art come to us.

10Mas eu lamentei com grande lamentação, e meus sentidos me abandonaram, e clamei aos mais velhos, dizendo: Perdoem-me, meus senhores, e os mais velhos os acalmaram e fizeram silêncio.

10But I lamented with great lamentation, and my senses left me, and I cried out to the elders, saying, Forgive me, my lords, and the elders stilled them and made quietness.

11Então me relacionei com todos eles desde o início até aquele momento, e disse: Roguei ao Senhor que fosse até vocês, e ele me considerou digno.

11Then I related to them all from the beginning till that time, and said, I besought the Lord to come to you, and he deemed me worthy.

12E os anciãos disseram: E agora, o que queres que te façamos? Eu lhes disse: Desejo aprender de vocês o seu modo de vida.

12And the elders said, And now what wilt thou we should do to thee? I said to them, I desire to learn of you your way of life.
