1Capítulo.

1Chapter.

2Então José, estremecendo, pegou em Jesus e foi com ele para sua casa, e sua mãe com ele.

2Then Joseph trembled, and took hold of Jesus, and went with Him to his own house, and His mother with Him.

3E eis que, de repente, vindo da direção oposta, um menino, também ele praticante da iniqüidade, correu e veio contra o ombro de Jesus, querendo zombar dele, ou machucá-lo, se pudesse.

3And, behold, suddenly from the opposite direction a boy, also a worker of iniquity, ran up and came against the shoulder of Jesus, wishing to make sport of Him, or to hurt Him, if he could.

4E Jesus lhe disse: Não voltarás são e salvo do caminho por onde andas.

4And Jesus said to him: Thou shalt not go back safe and sound from the way that thou goest.

5E imediatamente ele caiu e morreu.

5And immediately he fell down, and died.

6E os pais do menino morto, que tinham visto o que aconteceu, gritaram, dizendo: De onde vem esta criança? É manifesto que cada palavra que ele diz é verdadeira; e muitas vezes isso é realizado antes que ele fale.

6And the parents of the dead boy, who had seen what happened, cried out, saying: Where does this child come from? It is manifest that every word that he says is true; and it is often accomplished before he speaks.

7E os pais do menino morto foram ter com José, e disseram-lhe: Tira esse Jesus deste lugar, porque não pode habitar connosco nesta cidade; ou pelo menos ensine-o a abençoar e não a amaldiçoar.

7And the parents of the dead boy came to Joseph, and said to him: Take away that Jesus from this place, for he cannot live with us in this town; or at least teach him to bless, and not to curse.

8E José aproximou-se de Jesus e o admoestou, dizendo: Por que fazes tais coisas? Pois já muitos estão tristes e contra ti, e nos odeiam por tua causa, e suportamos as repreensões dos homens por tua causa.

8And Joseph came up to Jesus, and admonished Him, saying: Why doest thou such things? For already many are in grief and against thee, and hate us on thy account, and we endure the reproaches of men because of thee.

9E Jesus respondeu e disse a José: Ninguém é filho sábio, senão aquele a quem seu pai ensinou, segundo o conhecimento deste tempo; e a maldição de um pai só pode ferir os malfeitores.

9And Jesus answered and said unto Joseph: No one is a wise son but he whom his father hath taught, according to the knowledge of this time; and a father's curse can hurt none but evil-doers.

10Então eles se uniram contra Jesus e o acusaram diante de José.

10Then they came together against Jesus, and accused him to Joseph.

11Quando José viu isso, ficou muito aterrorizado, temendo a violência e o tumulto do povo de Israel.

11When Joseph saw this, he was in great terror, fearing the violence and uproar of the people of Israel.

12E naquela mesma hora Jesus agarrou o menino morto pela orelha e o levantou da terra à vista de todos; e eles viram Jesus falando com ele como um pai a seu filho.

12And the same hour Jesus seized the dead boy by the ear, and lifted him up from the earth in the sight of all: and they saw Jesus speaking to him like a father to his son.

13E seu espírito voltou para ele, e ele reviveu.

13And his spirit came back to him, and he revived.

14E todos eles se perguntaram.

14And all of them wondered.
