1Chapter.

2E quando Herodes viu que tinha sido ridicularizado pelos magos, seu coração se encheu de raiva, e ele correu por todos os caminhos, querendo prendê-los e matá-los.

2And when Herod saw that he had been made sport of by the magi, his heart swelled with rage, and he sent through all the roads, wishing to seize them and put them to death.

3Mas quando não conseguiu encontrá-los, enviou novamente a Belém e a todas as suas fronteiras, e matou todas as crianças do sexo masculino que encontrou, de dois anos ou menos, de acordo com o tempo que havia apurado dos magos.

3But when he could not find them at all, he sent anew to Bethlehem and all its borders, and slew all the male children whom he found of two years old and under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the magi.

4Ora, um dia antes de isto acontecer, José foi avisado durante o sono pelo anjo do Senhor, que lhe disse: Toma Maria e o menino, e vai para o Egito pelo caminho do deserto.

4Now the day before this was done Joseph was warned in his sleep by the angel of the Lord, who said to him: Take Mary and the child, and go into Egypt by the way of the desert.

5E José foi conforme a palavra do anjo.

5And Joseph went according to the saying of the angel.
