Provérbios 6

1Filho meu, se ficaste por fiador do teu companheiro, se deste a tua mão ao estranho,

1My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, {if} thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

2E te deixaste enredar pelas próprias palavras; e te prendeste nas palavras da tua boca;

2Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

3Faze pois isto agora, filho meu, e livra-te, já que caíste nas mãos do teu companheiro: vai, humilha-te, e importuna o teu companheiro.

3Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend. {and make...: or, so shalt thou prevail with thy friend}

4Não dês sono aos teus olhos, nem deixes adormecer as tuas pálpebras.

4Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

5Livra-te, como a gazela da mão do caçador, e como a ave da mão do passarinheiro.

5Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand {of the hunter}, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.

6Vai ter com a formiga, ó preguiçoso; olha para os seus caminhos, e sê sábio.

6Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

7Pois ela, não tendo chefe, nem guarda, nem dominador,

7Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,

8Prepara no verão o seu pão; na sega ajunta o seu mantimento.

8Provideth her meat in the summer, {and} gathereth her food in the harvest.

9Ó preguiçoso, até quando ficarás deitado? Quando te levantarás do teu sono?

9How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?

10Um pouco a dormir, um pouco a tosquenejar; um pouco a repousar de braços cruzados;

10{Yet} a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

11Assim sobrevirá a tua pobreza como o meliante, e a tua necessidade como um homem armado.

11So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

12O homem mau, o homem iníquo tem a boca pervertida.

12A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.

13Acena com os olhos, fala com os pés e faz sinais com os dedos.

13He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;

14Há no seu coração perversidade, todo o tempo maquina mal; anda semeando contendas.

14Frowardness {is} in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord. {soweth: Heb. casteth forth}

15Por isso a sua destruição virá repentinamente; subitamente será quebrantado, sem que haja cura.

15Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.

16Estas seis coisas o Senhor odeia, e a sétima a sua alma abomina:

16These six {things} doth the LORD hate: yea, seven {are} an abomination unto him: {unto...: Heb. of his soul}

17Olhos altivos, língua mentirosa, mãos que derramam sangue inocente,

17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, {A proud...: Heb. Haughty eyes}

18O coração que maquina pensamentos perversos, pés que se apressam a correr para o mal,

18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19A testemunha falsa que profere mentiras, e o que semeia contendas entre irmãos.

19A false witness {that} speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

20Filho meu, guarda o mandamento de teu pai, e não deixes a lei da tua mãe;

20My son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

21Ata-os perpetuamente ao teu coração, e pendura-os ao teu pescoço.

21Bind them continually upon thine heart, {and} tie them about thy neck.

22Quando caminhares, te guiará; quando te deitares, te guardará; quando acordares, falará contigo.

22When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and {when} thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

23Porque o mandamento é lâmpada, e a lei é luz; e as repreensões da correção são o caminho da vida,

23For the commandment {is} a lamp; and the law {is} light; and reproofs of instruction {are} the way of life: {lamp: or, candle}

24Para te guardarem da mulher vil, e das lisonjas da estranha.

24To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. {of the...: or, of the strange tongue}

25Não cobices no teu coração a sua formosura, nem te prendas aos seus olhos.

25Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.

26Porque por causa duma prostituta se chega a pedir um bocado de pão; e a adúltera anda à caça da alma preciosa.

26For by means of a whorish woman {a man is brought} to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life. {the adulteress: Heb. the woman of a man, or, a man's wife}

27Porventura tomará alguém fogo no seu seio, sem que suas vestes se queimem?

27Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?

28Ou andará alguém sobre brasas, sem que se queimem os seus pés?

28Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?

29Assim ficará o que entrar à mulher do seu próximo; não será inocente todo aquele que a tocar.

29So he that goeth in to his neighbour's wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.

30Não se injuria o ladrão, quando furta para saciar-se, tendo fome;

30{Men} do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

31E se for achado pagará o tanto sete vezes; terá de dar todos os bens da sua casa.

31But {if} he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

32Assim, o que adultera com uma mulher é falto de entendimento; aquele que faz isso destrói a sua alma.

32{But} whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he {that} doeth it destroyeth his own soul. {understanding: Heb. heart}

33Achará castigo e vilipêndio, e o seu opróbrio nunca se apagará.

33A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.

34Porque os ciúmes enfurecerão o marido; de maneira nenhuma perdoará no dia da vingança.

34For jealousy {is} the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

35Não aceitará nenhum resgate, nem se conformará por mais que aumentes os presentes.

35He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts. {He will...: Heb. He will not accept the face of any ransom}
