Provérbios 31

1Palavras do rei Lemuel, a profecia que lhe ensinou a sua mãe.

1The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.

2Como, filho meu? e como, filho do meu ventre? e como, filho dos meus votos?

2What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?

3Não dês às mulheres a tua força, nem os teus caminhos ao que destrói os reis.

3Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.

4Não é próprio dos reis, ó Lemuel, não é próprio dos reis beber vinho, nem dos príncipes o desejar bebida forte;

4{It is} not for kings, O Lemuel, {it is} not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:

5Para que bebendo, se esqueçam da lei, e pervertam o direito de todos os aflitos.

5Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted. {prevert: Heb. alter} {of any...: Heb. of all the sons of affliction}

6Dai bebida forte ao que está prestes a perecer, e o vinho aos amargurados de espírito.

6Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts. {of...: Heb. bitter of soul}

7Que beba, e esqueça da sua pobreza, e da sua miséria não se lembre mais.

7Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

8Abre a tua boca a favor do mudo, pela causa de todos que são designados à destruição.

8Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction. {such...: Heb. the sons of destruction}

9Abre a tua boca; julga retamente; e faze justiça aos pobres e aos necessitados.

9Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.

10Mulher virtuosa quem a achará? O seu valor muito excede ao de rubis.

10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price {is} far above rubies.

11O coração do seu marido está nela confiado; assim ele não necessitará de despojo.

11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

12Ela só lhe faz bem, e não mal, todos os dias da sua vida.

12She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

13Busca lã e linho, e trabalha de boa vontade com suas mãos.

13She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.

14Como o navio mercante, ela traz de longe o seu pão.

14She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.

15Levanta-se, mesmo à noite, para dar de comer aos da casa, e distribuir a tarefa das servas.

15She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.

16Examina uma propriedade e adquire-a; planta uma vinha com o fruto de suas mãos.

16She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard. {buyeth: Heb. taketh}

17Cinge os seus lombos de força, e fortalece os seus braços.

17She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.

18Vê que é boa a sua mercadoria; e a sua lâmpada não se apaga de noite.

18She perceiveth that her merchandise {is} good: her candle goeth not out by night. {She...: Heb. She tasteth}

19Estende as suas mãos ao fuso, e suas mãos pegam na roca.

19She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.

20Abre a sua mão ao pobre, e estende as suas mãos ao necessitado.

20She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy. {She...: Heb. She spreadeth}

21Não teme a neve na sua casa, porque toda a sua família está vestida de escarlata.

21She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household {are} clothed with scarlet. {scarlet: or, double garments}

22Faz para si cobertas de tapeçaria; seu vestido é de seda e de púrpura.

22She maketh herself coverings of tapestry; her clothing {is} silk and purple.

23Seu marido é conhecido nas portas, e assenta-se entre os anciãos da terra.

23Her husband is known in the gates, when he sitteth among the elders of the land.

24Faz panos de linho fino e vende-os, e entrega cintos aos mercadores.

24She maketh fine linen, and selleth {it}; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.

25A força e a honra são seu vestido, e se alegrará com o dia futuro.

25Strength and honour {are} her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.

26Abre a sua boca com sabedoria, e a lei da beneficência está na sua língua.

26She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue {is} the law of kindness.

27Está atenta ao andamento da casa, e não come o pão da preguiça.

27She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness.

28Levantam-se seus filhos e chamam-na bem-aventurada; seu marido também, e ele a louva.

28Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband {also}, and he praiseth her.

29Muitas filhas têm procedido virtuosamente, mas tu és, de todas, a mais excelente!

29Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. {have...: or, have gotten riches}

30Enganosa é a beleza e vã a formosura, mas a mulher que teme ao Senhor, essa sim será louvada.

30Favour {is} deceitful, and beauty {is} vain: {but} a woman {that} feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

31Dai-lhe do fruto das suas mãos, e deixe o seu próprio trabalho louvá-la nas portas.

31Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.
