Provérbios 3

1Filho meu, não te esqueças da minha lei, e o teu coração guarde os meus mandamentos.

1My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:

2Porque eles aumentarão os teus dias e te acrescentarão anos de vida e paz.

2For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. {long...: Heb. years of life}

3Não te desamparem a benignidade e a fidelidade; ata-as ao teu pescoço; escreve-as na tábua do teu coração.

3Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:

4E acharás graça e bom entendimento aos olhos de Deus e do homem.

4So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. {good...: or, good success}

5Confia no Senhor de todo o teu coração, e não te estribes no teu próprio entendimento.

5Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6Reconhece-o em todos os teus caminhos, e ele endireitará as tuas veredas.

6In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

7Não sejas sábio a teus próprios olhos; teme ao Senhor e aparta-te do mal.

7Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

8Isto será saúde para o teu âmago, e medula para os teus ossos.

8It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. {health: Heb. medicine} {marrow: Heb. watering, or, moistening}

9Honra ao Senhor com os teus bens, e com a primeira parte de todos os teus ganhos;

9Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

10E se encherão os teus celeiros, e transbordarão de vinho os teus lagares.

10So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

11Filho meu, não rejeites a correção do Senhor, nem te enojes da sua repreensão.

11My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction:

12Porque o Senhor repreende aquele a quem ama, assim como o pai ao filho a quem quer bem.

12For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son {in whom} he delighteth.

13Bem-aventurado o homem que acha sabedoria, e o homem que adquire conhecimento;

13Happy {is} the man {that} findeth wisdom, and the man {that} getteth understanding. {that getteth...: Heb. that draweth out understanding}

14Porque é melhor a sua mercadoria do que artigos de prata, e maior o seu lucro que o ouro mais fino.

14For the merchandise of it {is} better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

15Mais preciosa é do que os rubis, e tudo o que mais possas desejar não se pode comparar a ela.

15She {is} more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.

16Vida longa de dias está na sua mão direita; e na esquerda, riquezas e honra.

16Length of days {is} in her right hand; {and} in her left hand riches and honour.

17Os seus caminhos são caminhos de delícias, e todas as suas veredas de paz.

17Her ways {are} ways of pleasantness, and all her paths {are} peace.

18É árvore de vida para os que dela tomam, e são bem-aventurados todos os que a retêm.

18She {is} a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy {is every one} that retaineth her.

19O Senhor, com sabedoria fundou a terra; com entendimento preparou os céus.

19The LORD by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. {established: or, prepared}

20Pelo seu conhecimento se fenderam os abismos, e as nuvens destilam o orvalho.

20By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

21Filho meu, não se apartem estas coisas dos teus olhos: guarda a verdadeira sabedoria e o bom siso;

21My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion:

22Porque serão vida para a tua alma, e adorno ao teu pescoço.

22So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck.

23Então andarás confiante pelo teu caminho, e o teu pé não tropeçará.

23Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

24Quando te deitares, não temerás; ao contrário, o teu sono será suave ao te deitares.

24When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

25Não temas o pavor repentino, nem a investida dos perversos quando vier.

25Be not afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it cometh.

26Porque o Senhor será a tua esperança; guardará os teus pés de serem capturados.

26For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

27Não deixes de fazer bem a quem o merece, estando em tuas mãos a capacidade de fazê-lo.

27Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do {it}. {them...: Heb. the owners thereof}

28Não digas ao teu próximo: Vai, e volta amanhã que to darei, se já o tens contigo.

28Say not unto thy neighbour, Go, and come again, and to morrow I will give; when thou hast it by thee.

29Não maquines o mal contra o teu próximo, pois que habita contigo confiadamente.

29Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. {Devise...: or, Practise no evil}

30Não contendas com alguém sem causa, se não te fez nenhum mal.

30Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

31Não tenhas inveja do homem violento, nem escolhas nenhum dos seus caminhos.

31Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. {the oppressor: Heb. a man of violence}

32Porque o perverso é abominável ao Senhor, mas com os sinceros ele tem intimidade.

32For the froward {is} abomination to the LORD: but his secret {is} with the righteous.

33A maldição do Senhor habita na casa do ímpio, mas a habitação dos justos abençoará.

33The curse of the LORD {is} in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.

34Certamente ele escarnecerá dos escarnecedores, mas dará graça aos mansos.

34Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly.

35Os sábios herdarão honra, mas os loucos tomam sobre si vergonha.

35The wise shall inherit glory: but shame shall be the promotion of fools. {shall be...: Heb. exalteth the fools}
