Provérbios 28

1Os ímpios fogem sem que haja ninguém a persegui-los; mas os justos são ousados como um leão.

1The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

2Pela transgressão da terra muitos são os seus príncipes, mas por homem prudente e entendido a sua continuidade será prolongada.

2For the transgression of a land many {are} the princes thereof: but by a man of understanding {and} knowledge the state {thereof} shall be prolonged. {by...: or, by men of understanding and wisdom shall they likewise be prolonged}

3O homem pobre que oprime os pobres é como a chuva impetuosa, que causa a falta de alimento.

3A poor man that oppresseth the poor {is like} a sweeping rain which leaveth no food. {which...: Heb. without food}

4Os que deixam a lei louvam o ímpio; porém os que guardam a lei contendem com eles.

4They that forsake the law praise the wicked: but such as keep the law contend with them.

5Os homens maus não entendem o juízo, mas os que buscam ao Senhor entendem tudo.

5Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all {things}.

6Melhor é o pobre que anda na sua integridade do que o de caminhos perversos ainda que seja rico.

6Better {is} the poor that walketh in his uprightness, than {he that is} perverse {in his} ways, though he {be} rich.

7O que guarda a lei é filho sábio, mas o companheiro dos desregrados envergonha a seu pai.

7Whoso keepeth the law {is} a wise son: but he that is a companion of riotous {men} shameth his father. {is a companion...: or, feedeth gluttons}

8O que aumenta os seus bens com usura e ganância ajunta-os para o que se compadece do pobre.

8He that by usury and unjust gain increaseth his substance, he shall gather it for him that will pity the poor. {unjust...: Heb. by increase}

9O que desvia os seus ouvidos de ouvir a lei, até a sua oração será abominável.

9He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer {shall be} abomination.

10O que faz com que os retos errem por mau caminho, ele mesmo cairá na sua cova; mas os bons herdarão o bem.

10Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good {things} in possession.

11O homem rico é sábio aos seus próprios olhos, mas o pobre que é entendido, o examina.

11The rich man {is} wise in his own conceit; but the poor that hath understanding searcheth him out. {own...: Heb. eyes}

12Quando os justos exultam, grande é a glória; mas quando os ímpios sobem, os homens se escondem.

12When righteous {men} do rejoice, {there is} great glory: but when the wicked rise, a man is hidden. {hidden: or, sought for}

13O que encobre as suas transgressões nunca prosperará, mas o que as confessa e deixa, alcançará misericórdia.

13He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh {them} shall have mercy.

14Bem-aventurado o homem que continuamente teme; mas o que endurece o seu coração cairá no mal.

14Happy {is} the man that feareth alway: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.

15Como leão rugidor, e urso faminto, assim é o ímpio que domina sobre um povo pobre.

15{As} a roaring lion, and a ranging bear; {so is} a wicked ruler over the poor people.

16O príncipe falto de entendimento é também um grande opressor, mas o que odeia a avareza prolongará seus dias.

16The prince that wanteth understanding {is} also a great oppressor: {but} he that hateth covetousness shall prolong {his} days.

17O homem carregado do sangue de qualquer pessoa fugirá até à cova; ninguém o detenha.

17A man that doeth violence to the blood of {any} person shall flee to the pit; let no man stay him.

18O que anda sinceramente salvar-se-á, mas o perverso em seus caminhos cairá logo.

18Whoso walketh uprightly shall be saved: but {he that is} perverse {in his} ways shall fall at once.

19O que lavrar a sua terra virá a fartar-se de pão, mas o que segue a ociosos se fartará de pobreza.

19He that tilleth his land shall have plenty of bread: but he that followeth after vain {persons} shall have poverty enough.

20O homem fiel será coberto de bênçãos, mas o que se apressa a enriquecer não ficará impune.

20A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent. {innocent: or, unpunished}

21Dar importância à aparência das pessoas não é bom, porque até por um bocado de pão um homem prevaricará.

21To have respect of persons {is} not good: for for a piece of bread {that} man will transgress.

22O que quer enriquecer depressa é homem de olho maligno, porém não sabe que a pobreza há de vir sobre ele.

22He that hasteth to be rich {hath} an evil eye, and considereth not that poverty shall come upon him. {hasteth...: or, hath an evil eye hasteth to be rich}

23O que repreende o homem gozará depois mais amizade do que aquele que lisonjeia com a língua.

23He that rebuketh a man afterwards shall find more favour than he that flattereth with the tongue.

24O que rouba a seu próprio pai, ou a sua mãe, e diz: Não é transgressão, companheiro é do homem destruidor.

24Whoso robbeth his father or his mother, and saith, {It is} no transgression; the same {is} the companion of a destroyer. {a destroyer: Heb. a man destroying}

25O orgulhoso de coração levanta contendas, mas o que confia no Senhor prosperará.

25He that is of a proud heart stirreth up strife: but he that putteth his trust in the LORD shall be made fat.

26O que confia no seu próprio coração é insensato, mas o que anda em sabedoria, será salvo.

26He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

27O que dá ao pobre não terá necessidade, mas o que esconde os seus olhos terá muitas maldições.

27He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

28Quando os ímpios se elevam, os homens andam se escondendo, mas quando perecem, os justos se multiplicam.

28When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.
