Provérbios 24

1Não tenhas inveja dos homens malignos, nem desejes estar com eles.

1Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.

2Porque o seu coração medita a rapina, e os seus lábios falam a malícia.

2For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

3Com a sabedoria se edifica a casa, e com o entendimento ela se estabelece;

3Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established:

4E pelo conhecimento se encherão as câmaras com todos os bens preciosos e agradáveis.

4And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.

5O homem sábio é forte, e o homem de conhecimento consolida a força.

5A wise man {is} strong; yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. {is strong: Heb. is in strength} {increaseth...: Heb. strengtheneth might}

6Com conselhos prudentes tu farás a guerra; e há vitória na multidão dos conselheiros.

6For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors {there is} safety.

7A sabedoria é demasiadamente alta para o tolo, na porta não abrirá a sua boca.

7Wisdom {is} too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.

8Àquele que cuida em fazer mal, chamá-lo-ão de pessoa danosa.

8He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.

9O pensamento do tolo é pecado, e abominável aos homens é o escarnecedor.

9The thought of foolishness {is} sin: and the scorner {is} an abomination to men.

10Se te mostrares fraco no dia da angústia, é que a tua força é pequena.

10{If} thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength {is} small. {small: Heb. narrow}

11Se tu deixares de livrar os que estão sendo levados para a morte, e aos que estão sendo levados para a matança;

11If thou forbear to deliver {them that are} drawn unto death, and {those that are} ready to be slain;

12Se disseres: Eis que não o sabemos; porventura não o considerará aquele que pondera os corações? Não o saberá aquele que atenta para a tua alma? Não dará ele ao homem conforme a sua obra?

12If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider {it}? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth {not} he know {it}? and shall {not} he render to {every} man according to his works?

13Come mel, meu filho, porque é bom; o favo de mel é doce ao teu paladar.

13My son, eat thou honey, because {it is} good; and the honeycomb, {which is} sweet to thy taste: {to...: Heb. upon thy palate}

14Assim será para a tua alma o conhecimento da sabedoria; se a achares, haverá galardão para ti e não será cortada a tua esperança.

14So {shall} the knowledge of wisdom {be} unto thy soul: when thou hast found {it}, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.

15Não armes ciladas contra a habitação do justo, ó ímpio, nem assoles o seu lugar de repouso,

15Lay not wait, O wicked {man}, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:

16Porque sete vezes cairá o justo, e se levantará; mas os ímpios tropeçarão no mal.

16For a just {man} falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.

17Quando cair o teu inimigo, não te alegres, nem se regozije o teu coração quando ele tropeçar;

17Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

18Para que, vendo-o o Senhor, seja isso mau aos seus olhos, e desvie dele a sua ira.

18Lest the LORD see {it}, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him. {it displeaseth...: Heb. it be evil in his eyes}

19Não te indignes por causa dos malfeitores, nem tenhas inveja dos ímpios,

19Fret not thyself because of evil {men}, neither be thou envious at the wicked; {Fret...: or, Keep not company with the wicked}

20Porque o homem maligno não terá galardão, e a lâmpada dos ímpios se apagará.

20For there shall be no reward to the evil {man}; the candle of the wicked shall be put out. {candle: or, lamp}

21Teme ao Senhor, filho meu, e ao rei, e não te ponhas com os que buscam mudanças,

21My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: {and} meddle not with them that are given to change: {them...: Heb. changers}

22Porque de repente se levantará a sua destruição, e a ruína de ambos, quem o sabe?

22For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?

23Também estes são provérbios dos sábios: Ter respeito a pessoas no julgamento não é bom.

23These {things} also {belong} to the wise. {It is} not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

24O que disser ao ímpio: Justo és, os povos o amaldiçoarão, as nações o detestarão.

24He that saith unto the wicked, Thou {art} righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:

25Mas para os que o repreenderem haverá delícias, e sobre eles virá a bênção do bem.

25But to them that rebuke {him} shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them. {a good...: Heb. a blessing of good}

26Beijados serão os lábios do que responde com palavras retas.

26{Every man} shall kiss {his} lips that giveth a right answer. {that...: Heb. that answereth right words}

27Prepara de fora a tua obra, e aparelha-a no campo, e então edifica a tua casa.

27Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thine house.

28Não sejas testemunha sem causa contra o teu próximo; e não enganes com os teus lábios.

28Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive {not} with thy lips.

29Não digas: Como ele me fez a mim, assim o farei eu a ele; pagarei a cada um segundo a sua obra.

29Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.

30Passei pelo campo do preguiçoso, e junto à vinha do homem falto de entendimento,

30I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;

31Eis que estava toda cheia de cardos, e a sua superfície coberta de urtiga, e o seu muro de pedras estava derrubado.

31And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, {and} nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

32O que eu tenho visto, o guardarei no coração, e vendo-o recebi instrução.

32Then I saw, {and} considered {it} well: I looked upon {it, and} received instruction. {considered...: Heb. set my heart}

33Um pouco a dormir, um pouco a cochilar; outro pouco deitado de mãos cruzadas, para dormir,

33{Yet} a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34Assim te sobrevirá a tua pobreza como um vagabundo, e a tua necessidade como um homem armado.

34So shall thy poverty come {as} one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man. {an...: Heb. a man of shield}
