Provérbios 2

1Filho meu, se aceitares as minhas palavras, e esconderes contigo os meus mandamentos,

1My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

2Para fazeres o teu ouvido atento à sabedoria; e inclinares o teu coração ao entendimento;

2So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, {and} apply thine heart to understanding;

3Se clamares por conhecimento, e por inteligência alçares a tua voz,

3Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, {and} liftest up thy voice for understanding; {liftest...: Heb. givest thy voice}

4Se como a prata a buscares e como a tesouros escondidos a procurares,

4If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as {for} hid treasures;

5Então entenderás o temor do Senhor, e acharás o conhecimento de Deus.

5Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

6Porque o Senhor dá a sabedoria; da sua boca é que vem o conhecimento e o entendimento.

6For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth {cometh} knowledge and understanding.

7Ele reserva a verdadeira sabedoria para os retos. Escudo é para os que caminham na sinceridade,

7He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: {he is} a buckler to them that walk uprightly.

8Para que guardem as veredas do juízo. Ele preservará o caminho dos seus santos.

8He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

9Então entenderás a justiça, o juízo, a eqüidade e todas as boas veredas.

9Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; {yea}, every good path.

10Pois quando a sabedoria entrar no teu coração, e o conhecimento for agradável à tua alma,

10When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;

11O bom siso te guardará e a inteligência te conservará;

11Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

12Para te afastar do mau caminho, e do homem que fala coisas perversas;

12To deliver thee from the way of the evil {man}, from the man that speaketh froward things;

13Dos que deixam as veredas da retidão, para andarem pelos caminhos escusos;

13Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;

14Que se alegram de fazer mal, e folgam com as perversidades dos maus,

14Who rejoice to do evil, {and} delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

15Cujas veredas são tortuosas e que se desviam nos seus caminhos;

15Whose ways {are} crooked, and {they} froward in their paths:

16Para te afastar da mulher estranha, sim da estranha que lisonjeia com suas palavras;

16To deliver thee from the strange woman, {even} from the stranger {which} flattereth with her words;

17Que deixa o guia da sua mocidade e se esquece da aliança do seu Deus;

17Which forsaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

18Porque a sua casa se inclina para a morte, e as suas veredas para os mortos.

18For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.

19Todos os que se dirigem a ela não voltarão e não atinarão com as veredas da vida.

19None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

20Para andares pelos caminhos dos bons, e te conservares nas veredas dos justos.

20That thou mayest walk in the way of good {men}, and keep the paths of the righteous.

21Porque os retos habitarão a terra, e os íntegros permanecerão nela.

21For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.

22Mas os ímpios serão arrancados da terra, e os aleivosos serão dela exterminados.

22But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth, and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it. {rooted: or, plucked up}
