Provérbios 16

1Do homem são as preparações do coração, mas do SENHOR a resposta da língua.

1The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, {is} from the LORD. {preparations: or, disposings}

2Todos os caminhos do homem são puros aos seus olhos, mas o Senhor pesa o espírito.

2All the ways of a man {are} clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.

3Confia ao Senhor as tuas obras, e teus pensamentos serão estabelecidos.

3Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. {Commit: Heb. Roll}

4O Senhor fez todas as coisas para atender aos seus próprios desígnios, até o ímpio para o dia do mal.

4The LORD hath made all {things} for himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5Abominação é ao Senhor todo o altivo de coração; não ficará impune mesmo de mãos postas.

5Every one {that is} proud in heart {is} an abomination to the LORD: {though} hand {join} in hand, he shall not be unpunished. {unpunished: Heb. held innocent}

6Pela misericórdia e verdade a iniqüidade é perdoada, e pelo temor do Senhor os homens se desviam do pecado.

6By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD {men} depart from evil.

7Sendo os caminhos do homem agradáveis ao Senhor, até a seus inimigos faz que tenham paz com ele.

7When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8Melhor é o pouco com justiça, do que a abundância de bens com injustiça.

8Better {is} a little with righteousness than great revenues without right.

9O coração do homem planeja o seu caminho, mas o Senhor lhe dirige os passos.

9A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.

10Nos lábios do rei se acha a sentença divina; a sua boca não transgride quando julga.

10A divine sentence {is} in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. {A divine...: Heb. Divination}

11O peso e a balança justos são do Senhor; obra sua são os pesos da bolsa.

11A just weight and balance {are} the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag {are} his work. {the weights: Heb. the stones}

12Abominação é aos reis praticarem impiedade, porque com justiça é que se estabelece o trono.

12{It is} an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.

13Os lábios de justiça são o contentamento dos reis; eles amarão o que fala coisas retas.

13Righteous lips {are} the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.

14O furor do rei é mensageiro da morte, mas o homem sábio o apaziguará.

14The wrath of a king {is as} messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

15No semblante iluminado do rei está a vida, e a sua benevolência é como a nuvem da chuva serôdia.

15In the light of the king's countenance {is} life; and his favour {is} as a cloud of the latter rain.

16Quão melhor é adquirir a sabedoria do que o ouro! e quão mais excelente é adquirir a prudência do que a prata!

16How much better {is it} to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!

17Os retos fazem o seu caminho desviar-se do mal; o que guarda o seu caminho preserva a sua alma.

17The highway of the upright {is} to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.

18A soberba precede a ruína, e a altivez do espírito precede a queda.

18Pride {goeth} before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

19Melhor é ser humilde de espírito com os mansos, do que repartir o despojo com os soberbos.

19Better {it is to be} of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20O que atenta prudentemente para o assunto achará o bem, e o que confia no Senhor será bem-aventurado.

20He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy {is} he. {handleth...: or, understandeth a matter}

21O sábio de coração será chamado prudente, e a doçura dos lábios aumentará o ensino.

21The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

22O entendimento para aqueles que o possuem, é uma fonte de vida, mas a instrução dos tolos é a sua estultícia.

22Understanding {is} a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools {is} folly.

23O coração do sábio instrui a sua boca, e aumenta o ensino dos seus lábios.

23The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips. {teacheth: Heb. maketh wise}

24As palavras suaves são favos de mel, doces para a alma, e saúde para os ossos.

24Pleasant words {are as} an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

25Há um caminho que parece direito ao homem, mas o seu fim são os caminhos da morte.

25There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof {are} the ways of death.

26O trabalhador trabalha para si mesmo, porque a sua boca o incita.

26He that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him. {He...: Heb. The soul of him that} {craveth...: Heb. boweth unto him}

27O homem ímpio cava o mal, e nos seus lábios há como que uma fogueira.

27An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips {there is} as a burning fire. {An...: Heb. A man of Belial}

28O homem perverso instiga a contenda, e o intrigante separa os maiores amigos.

28A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends. {soweth: Heb. sendeth forth}

29O homem violento coage o seu próximo, e o faz deslizar por caminhos nada bons.

29A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way {that is} not good.

30O que fecha os olhos para imaginar coisas ruins, ao cerrar os lábios pratica o mal.

30He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.

31Coroa de honra são as cãs, quando elas estão no caminho da justiça.

31The hoary head {is} a crown of glory, {if} it be found in the way of righteousness.

32Melhor é o que tarda em irar-se do que o poderoso, e o que controla o seu ânimo do que aquele que toma uma cidade.

32{He that is} slow to anger {is} better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

33A sorte se lança no regaço, mas do Senhor procede toda a determinação.

33The lot is cast into the lap; but the whole disposing thereof {is} of the LORD.
