1Entretanto, os meses iam-se passando para a menina. E, ao fazer ela dois anos, disse Joaquim a Ana: 'Levemo-la ao templo do Senhor para cumprir a promessa que fizemos.' Ana respondeu: 'Esperemos, todavia, até que complete três anos, para que a menina não tenha saudades de nós.' E Joaquim respondeu: 'Esperaremos.'

1Meanwhile, the months passed for the girl. And, when she was two years old, Joachim said to Anna: 'Let us take her to the temple of the Lord to fulfill the promise we made.' Anna replied: 'Let us wait, however, until she is three, so that the girl will not miss us.' And Joachim answered: 'We will wait.'

2Ao chegar aos três anos, disse Joaquim: 'Chama as donzelas hebréias que não têm mancha, e que tomem, duas a duas, uma candeia acesa para que a menina não olhe para trás e seu coração seja cativado por alguma coisa fora do templo de Deus.' E assim fizeram enquanto iam subindo ao templo do Senhor.

2When she was three years old, Joachim said: 'Call the Hebrew maidens who are without blemish, and let them each take a lit candle, so that the girl may not look back and her heart may not be captivated by anything outside the temple of God.' And so they did while going up to the temple of the Lord.

3E lá recebeu-a o sacerdote, o qual, depois de tê-la beijado, abençoou-a e exclamou: 'O Senhor engrandeceu teu nome diante de todas as gerações, pois que no final dos tempos manifestará em ti sua redenção aos filhos de Israel.' Então fê-la sentar-se no terceiro degrau do altar. O Senhor derramou graças sobre a menina, que dançou, cativando toda a casa de Israel.

3And there the priest received her, who, after having kissed her, blessed her and exclaimed: 'The Lord has magnified your name among all generations, for at the end of times he will manifest in you his redemption to the children of Israel.' Then he made her sit on the third step of the altar. The Lord poured graces upon the girl, who danced, captivating the whole house of Israel.
