1No dia seguinte, ao ir oferecer suas dádivas ao Senhor, dizia para consigo mesmo: 'Saberei se Deus me vai ser favorável se eu chegar a ver o éfode do sacerdote.' E, ao oferecer o sacrifício, observou o éfode do sacerdote, quando este se acercava do altar de Deus, e, não encontrando pecado algum em sua consciência, disse: 'Agora vejo que o Senhor houve por bem perdoar todos os meus pecados.' E desceu Joaquim justificado do templo e foi para casa.

2E o tempo de Ana cumpriu-se, e no nono mês deu à luz. E perguntou à parteira: 'A quem dei à luz?' E a parteira respondeu: 'Uma menina.' Então Ana exclamou: 'Minha alma foi enaltecida.' E reclinou a menina no berço. Ao fim do tempo marcado pela lei, Ana purificou-se, deu o peito à menina e lhe pôs o nome de Maria.
