Protoevangelho de Tiago 3

1Mas, tirando seu vestido de luto e lavando sua cabeça, vestiu-se de gala, e pela hora nona desceu a passear pelo jardim. Viu ali um loureiro, sentou-se à sua sombra e orou ao Senhor, dizendo: 'Deus de nossos pais, abençoa-me e escuta minha oração, assim como abriste o ventre de Sara e lhe deste um filho, Isaac.'

1But, taking off her mourning garment and washing her head, she dressed in finery, and at the ninth hour she went down to walk in the garden. She saw there a laurel, sat in its shade and prayed to the Lord, saying: 'God of our fathers, bless me and hear my prayer, just as you opened the womb of Sarah and gave her a son, Isaac.'

2E, voltando os olhos ao céu, viu no loureiro um ninho de pardais e exclamou, lamentando-se: 'Ai de mim, quem me deu a vida? Que ventre foi o que me produziu? Porque nasci para ser amaldiçoada diante dos filhos de Israel, blasfemada e escarnecida e repudiada no templo de meu Deus.'

2And, turning her eyes to heaven, she saw in the laurel a nest of sparrows and exclaimed, lamenting: 'Woe is me, who gave me life? What womb was it that produced me? Because I was born to be cursed before the children of Israel, blasphemed and mocked and repudiated in the temple of my God.'

3'Ai de mim! A quem sou comparável? Nem sequer às aves do céu, porque as aves do céu são fecundas diante de ti, Senhor.'

3'Woe is me! To whom am I comparable? Not even to the birds of heaven, because the birds of heaven are fruitful before you, Lord.'

4'Ai de mim! A quem sou comparável? Nem sequer aos animais da terra, porque eles são férteis diante de ti, Senhor.'

4'Woe is me! To whom am I comparable? Not even to the animals of the earth, because they too are fertile before you, Lord.'

5'Ai de mim! A quem me igualo eu? Nem sequer a esta terra, porque ela também é fecunda, dando seus frutos na ocasião própria, e te bendiz a ti, Senhor.'

5'Woe is me! To whom do I compare myself? Not even to this earth, because it too is fruitful, giving its fruits in due season, and blesses you, Lord.'
