1Capítulo 7 — Evite os Docetae e persevere no jejum e na oração.

1Chapter 7 — Avoid the Docetae, and persevere in fasting and prayer.

2“Pois todo aquele que não confessa que Jesus Cristo veio em carne é anticristo;” e quem não confessa o testemunho da cruz, é do diabo; e todo aquele que perverte os oráculos do Senhor para suas próprias concupiscências, e diz que não há ressurreição nem julgamento, ele é o primogênito de Satanás.

2"For whosoever does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh, is antichrist;" and whosoever does not confess the testimony of the cross, is of the devil; and whosoever perverts the oracles of the Lord to his own lusts, and says that there is neither a resurrection nor a judgment, he is the first-born of Satan.

3Portanto, abandonando a vaidade de muitos e as suas falsas doutrinas, voltemos à palavra que nos foi transmitida desde o início; “vigiando em oração” e perseverando no jejum; suplicando nas nossas súplicas ao Deus que tudo vê, "que não nos deixe cair em tentação", como disse o Senhor: "O espírito está realmente pronto, mas a carne é fraca".

3Wherefore, forsaking the vanity of many, and their false doctrines, let us return to the word which has been handed down to us from the beginning; "watching unto prayer," and persevering in fasting; beseeching in our supplications the all-seeing God "not to lead us into temptation," as the Lord has said: "The spirit truly is willing, but the flesh is weak".
