1Chapter 4 — Various exhortations.

2“Mas o amor ao dinheiro é a raiz de todos os males”.

2"But the love of money is the root of all evils".

3Sabendo, portanto, que “assim como nada trouxemos ao mundo, nada podemos levar”, armemo-nos com a armadura da justiça; e ensinemo-nos, antes de tudo, a andar nos mandamentos do Senhor.

3Knowing, therefore, that "as we brought nothing into the world, so we can carry nothing out," let us arm ourselves with the armour of righteousness; and let us teach, first of all, ourselves to walk in the commandments of the Lord.

4Em seguida, ensinem suas esposas a andar na fé que lhes foi dada e em amor e pureza, amando ternamente seus próprios maridos em toda a verdade e amando todos os outros igualmente em toda castidade; e educar seus filhos no conhecimento e no temor de Deus.

4Next, teach your wives to walk in the faith given to them, and in love and purity tenderly loving their own husbands in all truth, and loving all others equally in all chastity; and to train up their children in the knowledge and fear of God.

5Ensinem as viúvas a serem discretas na fé do Senhor, orando continuamente por todos, afastando-se de toda calúnia, calúnia, falso testemunho, amor ao dinheiro e todo tipo de mal; sabendo que eles são o altar de Deus, que Ele percebe claramente todas as coisas, e que nada lhe está oculto, nem os raciocínios, nem as reflexões, nem nenhuma das coisas secretas do coração.

5Teach the widows to be discreet as respects the faith of the Lord, praying continually for all, being far from all slandering, evil-speaking, false-witnessing, love of money, and every kind of evil; knowing that they are the altar of God, that He clearly perceives all things, and that nothing is hid from Him, neither reasonings, nor reflections, nor any one of the secret things of the heart.
