1Aconteceu então que, ouvindo os discípulos Jesus proferir estas palavras, ficaram maravilhados diante das glórias da gnose deste supremo mistério e perderam a coragem.

1It came to pass then, when the disciples had heard Jesus utter these words, that they were amazed at the glories of the gnosis of this greatest mystery and lost courage.

2E Maria Madalena adiantou-se e disse a Jesus: Ó Mestre, se a gnose de todas estas coisas está naquele mistério, quem é o homem neste mundo que será capaz de entender aquele mistério e todas as suas gnoses, e o teor de todas as palavras que disseste a seu respeito?

2And Mary Magdalene came forward and said unto Jesus: O Master, if the gnosis of all these things is in that mystery, who is the man in this world who shall be able to understand that mystery and all its gnoses, and the manner of all the words which thou hast spoken concerning it?

3Pois os discípulos estavam profundamente angustiados e começavam a desfalecer em seus corações, pensando: Como poderemos nós compreender este mistério que é tão profundo e sublime acima de todo o entendimento?

3For the disciples were sore troubled and had begun to let go in their hearts, thinking: How can we comprehend this mystery which is so deep and exalted above all understanding?
