1Aconteceu então que, havendo Jesus acabado de dizer estas palavras aos seus discípulos, Maria Madalena adiantou-se e disse: Senhor meu, não te indignes comigo se eu te interrogar, porque nós te interrogamos acerca de tudo com exatidão.

1It came to pass then, when Jesus had finished speaking these words unto his disciples, that Mary Magdalene started forward and said: My Lord, be not wroth with me if I question thee, because we question thee concerning all with precision.

2E Jesus respondeu e disse a Maria: Pergunta sobre o que desejas interrogar, e eu to revelarei abertamente sem parábola; e tudo aquilo que perguntares, dir-to-ei com exatidão e certeza.

2And Jesus answered and said unto Mary: Question concerning what thou desirest to question, and I will reveal it unto thee in openness without similitude, and all concerning which thou questionest, I will say unto thee with precision and certainty.

3Eu vos aperfeiçoarei em todo o poder e em todas as plenitudes, desde o interior dos interiores até o exterior dos exteriores, desde aquele Inefável até a escuridão das escuridões, de sorte que sereis chamados plenitudes aperfeiçoadas em toda a gnose. Agora, pois, Maria, interroga acerca do que puderes perguntar, e eu to revelarei com grande alegria e imenso regozijo.

3I will perfect you in all power and all fulnesses, from the interior of the interiors to the exterior of the exteriors, from that Ineffable to the darkness of darknesses, so that ye shall be called the fulnesses perfected in all gnoses. Now, therefore, Mary, question concerning what thou mayest question, and I will reveal it to thee with great joy and great exultation.

4Aconteceu então que, ouvindo Maria o Salvador dizer estas palavras, regozijou-se com extraordinária alegria e exultou, e disse: Senhor meu, serão então os homens deste mundo que receberam os mistérios da Luz superiores às emanações do Tesouro no teu reino?

4It came to pass then, when Mary had heard the Saviour say these words, that she rejoiced in exceedingly great joy and exulted, and said: My Lord, will then the men of the world who have received the mysteries of the Light, be superior to the emanations of the Treasury in thy kingdom?

5Pois ouvi-te dizer: Se eu vos conduzir à região daqueles que receberam os mistérios da Luz, então a região das emanações da Terra da Luz contar-se-á para vós como um grão de poeira por causa da grande distância que dela a separa, e por causa da grande luz em que ela reside — isto é, a Terra da Luz é o Tesouro, a região das emanações —, serão, portanto, Senhor meu, os homens que receberam os mistérios superiores à Terra da Luz e superiores àquelas emanações no reino da Luz?

5For I have heard thee say: If I lead you into the region of those who have received the mysteries of the Light, then will the region of the emanations of the Light-land count for you as a speck of dust because of the great distance in which it is distant from it, and because of the great light in which it is,--that is the Light-land is the Treasury, the region of the emanations,--will therefore then, my Lord, the men who have received the mysteries, be superior to the Light-land and superior to those emanations in the kingdom of the Light?
