1E respondeu Jesus e disse a Maria: "Bem disseste, Maria; interrogas com acerto mediante a tua excelente pergunta, e lanças luz sobre todas as coisas com certeza e precisão. Agora, pois, de hoje em diante nada vos ocultarei, mas vos revelarei todas as coisas com firmeza e franqueza. Ouvi, pois, Maria, e dai ouvidos, vós todos os discípulos: Antes que eu fizesse proclamação a todos os arcontes dos éons e a todos os arcontes do Destino e da esfera, estavam todos atados nos seus vínculos, e nas suas esferas, e nos seus selos, como Jeú, o Inspetor da Luz, os havia ligado desde o princípio; e cada um deles permanecia na sua ordem, e cada um andava segundo o seu curso, como Jeú, o Inspetor da Luz, os havia estabelecido.

1And Jesus answered and said unto Mary: "Well said, Mary; thou questionest finely with thy excellent question, and thou throwest light on all things with surety and precision. Now, therefore, from now on will I hide nothing from you, but I will reveal unto you all things with surety and openness. Hearken then, Mary, and give ear, all ye disciples: Before I made proclamation to all the rulers of the aeons and to all the rulers of the Fate and of the sphere, they were all bound in their bonds and in their spheres and in their seals, as Yew, the Overseer of the Light, had bound them from the beginning; and every one of them remained in his order, and every one journeyed according to his course, as Yew, the Overseer of the Light, had established them.

2"E quando chegava o tempo do número de Melquisedeque, o grande Receptor da Luz, costumava ele vir ao meio dos éons e de todos os arcontes que estão atados na esfera e no Destino, e levava embora a purificação da luz de todos os arcontes dos éons, e de todos os arcontes do Destino e dos da esfera — pois arrebatava aquilo que os punha em agitação — e punha em movimento o acelerador que está sobre eles, e fazia com que girassem os seus círculos com rapidez, e ele arrebatava o poder que neles havia, e o fôlego da sua boca, e as lágrimas dos seus olhos, e o suor dos seus corpos.

2"And when the time of the number of Melchisedec, the great Receiver of the Light, came, he was wont to come into the midst of the aeons and of all the rulers who are bound in the sphere and in the Fate, and he carried away the purification of the light from all the rulers of the aeons and from all the rulers of the Fate and from those of the sphere--for he carried away then that which brings them into agitation--and he set in motion the hastener who is over them, and made them turn their circles swiftly, and he carried away their power which was in them and the breath of their mouth and the tears of their eyes and the sweat of their bodies.

3"E Melquisedeque, o Receptor da Luz, purifica esses poderes e conduz a sua luz para o Tesouro da Luz, enquanto os ministros de todos os arcontes ajuntam toda a matéria de todos eles; e os ministros de todos os arcontes do Destino e os ministros da esfera que está abaixo dos éons tomam-na e formam-na em almas de homens, e de gado, e de répteis, e de feras, e de aves, e as enviam para baixo ao mundo da humanidade. E além disso os receptores do sol e os receptores da lua, quando olham para o alto e veem as configurações das veredas dos éons e as configurações do Destino e as da esfera, tomam deles o poder de luz; e os receptores do sol preparam-no e depositam-no, até que o entreguem aos receptores de Melquisedeque, o Purificador da Luz. E os seus despojos materiais levam-nos para a esfera que está abaixo dos éons, e moldam-nos em almas de homens, e moldam-nos também em almas de répteis, e de gado, e de feras, e de aves, segundo o círculo dos arcontes daquela esfera e segundo todas as configurações do seu giro, e lançam-nos neste mundo dos homens, e tornam-se almas nesta região, como acabo de dizer-vos."

3"And Melchisedec, the Receiver of the Light, purifieth those powers and carrieth their light into the Treasury of the Light, while the servitors of all the rulers gather together all matter from them all; and the servitors of all the rulers of the Fate and the servitors of the sphere which is below the aeons, take it and fashion it into souls of men and cattle and reptiles and wild-beasts and birds, and send them down into the world of mankind. And further the receivers of the sun and the receivers of the moon, if they look above and see the configurations of the paths of the aeons and the configurations of the Fate and those of the sphere, then they take from them the light-power; and the receivers of the sun get it ready and deposit it, until they hand it over to the receivers of Melchisedec, the Light-purifier. And their material refuse they bring to the sphere which is below the aeons, and fashion it into souls of men, and fashion it also into souls of reptiles and of cattle and of wild-beasts and of birds, according to the circle of the rulers of that sphere and according to all the configurations of its revolution, and they cast them into this world of mankind, and they become souls in this region, as I have just said unto you."
