Pastor de Hermas 89

1No dia seguinte, o Pastor veio e me perguntou: 'Como passaste a noite?' 'Muito alegremente, Senhor,' respondi.

1The next day, the Shepherd came and asked me: 'How did you spend the night?' 'Very joyfully, Lord,' answered I.

2'Agora,' disse ele, 'eu te explicarei o que viste. A rocha branca e o portão são o Filho de Deus.'

2'Now,' said he, 'I will explain to you what you saw. The white rock and the gate are the Son of God.'

3'Por que, Senhor,' disse eu, 'a rocha é antiga e o portão é novo?'

3'Why, Lord,' said I, 'is the rock ancient and the gate new?'

4'Porque,' disse ele, 'o Filho de Deus é mais antigo que toda a criação, mas o portão é novo porque Ele se manifestou no fim dos tempos para que aqueles que serão salvos possam entrar por Ele no reino de Deus.'

4'Because,' said he, 'the Son of God is older than all creation, but the gate is new because He manifested Himself in the end times so that those who will be saved may enter through Him into the kingdom of God.'
