Pastor de Hermas 8

1Depois que ela terminou estas palavras, disse-me: Queres ouvir-me ler? Eu disse: Sim, senhora.

1After she finished these words, she said to me: Do you want to hear me read? I said: Yes, lady.

2Ela disse: Sê ouvinte, então, e ouve a glória de Deus. Ouvi coisas grandes e maravilhosas que não conseguia guardar na memória.

2She said: Be a listener, then, and hear the glory of God. I heard great and wonderful things that I could not keep in memory.

3Pois todas as palavras eram aterradoras, tais que um homem não pode suportar. As últimas palavras, porém, guardei, pois eram mais suaves e proveitosas para nós.

3For all the words were terrifying, such that a man cannot bear. The last words, however, I kept, for they were softer and profitable for us.

4Eis que o Deus dos Exércitos, que pela sua poderosa força e grande sabedoria criou o mundo, e pela sua gloriosa vontade cercou sua criação de beleza, e pela sua forte palavra fixou os céus e fundou a terra sobre as águas.

4Behold, the God of Hosts, who by his mighty power and great wisdom created the world, and by his glorious will surrounded his creation with beauty, and by his strong word fixed the heavens and founded the earth upon the waters.
