1Eu disse ao pastor: 'Senhor, por que ele enviou alguns para a torre e deixou outros para ti?'

1I said to the shepherd: 'Lord, why did he send some to the tower and leave others to you?'

2'Como muitos,' disse ele, 'transgrediram a lei que receberam dele, ele os deixou sob o meu poder para o arrependimento; mas como muitos já agradaram à lei e a guardaram, ele os mantém sob o seu próprio poder.'

2'Since many,' said he, 'transgressed the law they received from him, he left them under my power for repentance; but since many already pleased the law and kept it, he keeps them under his own power.'

3'Quem são, então, Senhor,' disse eu, 'os que foram coroados e foram para a torre?'

3'Who are, then, Lord,' said I, 'those who were crowned and went to the tower?'

4'Estes,' disse ele, 'são os que sofreram pela lei. Mas os outros que também foram para a torre, e receberam selos e a veste branca, estes são os que guardaram a lei e caminharam nela.'

4'These,' said he, 'are those who suffered for the law. But the others who also went to the tower, and received seals and the white garment, these are those who kept the law and walked in it.'

5'Mas aqueles que apresentaram seus gravetos secos e comidos por vermes, quem são eles?'

5'But those who presented their sticks dry and eaten by worms, who are they?'

6'Estes,' disse ele, 'são os apóstatas e traidores da igreja e blasfemadores do Senhor em seus pecados, e além disso, eles têm vergonha do nome do Senhor que foi invocado sobre eles. Estes, portanto, pereceram totalmente para Deus.'

6'These,' said he, 'are the apostates and traitors of the church and blasphemers of the Lord in their sins, and furthermore, they are ashamed of the name of the Lord that was invoked upon them. These, therefore, perished totally for God.'
