Pastor de Hermas 69

1E o anjo do Senhor ordenou que coroas fossem trazidas. E coroas foram trazidas, feitas, por assim dizer, de ramos de palmeira; e ele coroou os homens que tinham apresentado os gravetos que tinham rebentos e algum fruto, e enviou-os para a torre.

1And the angel of the Lord ordered crowns to be brought. And crowns were brought, made, so to speak, of palm branches; and he crowned the men who had presented the sticks that had shoots and some fruit, and sent them to the tower.

2E os outros também ele enviou para a torre, mesmo aqueles que tinham apresentado os gravetos verdes e tendo rebentos, mas os rebentos não tinham fruto; e ele lhes deu o selo.

2And the others also he sent to the tower, even those who had presented the green sticks having shoots, but the shoots had no fruit; and he gave them the seal.

3E todos os que iam para a torre tinham a mesma veste, branca como a neve.

3And all who went to the tower had the same garment, white as snow.

4E ele enviou também aqueles que tinham apresentado os gravetos verdes como os tinham recebido, dando-lhes uma veste e selos.

4And he sent also those who had presented the green sticks such as they had received them, giving them a garment and seals.

5Tendo terminado estas coisas, o anjo disse ao pastor: 'Eu vou embora, mas tu deves receber estes que foram deixados de fora, e examiná-los cuidadosamente, e deixá-los entrar na torre, se algum deles for capaz de ser ajustado a ela.'

5Having finished these things, the angel said to the shepherd: 'I am going away, but you must receive these who were left out, and examine them carefully, and let them enter the tower, if any of them is capable of being adjusted to it.'

6'Mas aqueles que não forem capazes, tu deves lançá-los fora da torre.' Dizendo estas coisas ao pastor, ele partiu.

6'But those who are not capable, you must cast them out of the tower.' Saying these things to the shepherd, he departed.

7Eu disse ao pastor: 'Senhor, o que é esta árvore? Pois estou confuso sobre ela, porque depois de tantos ramos terem sido cortados dela, a árvore está inteira e nada parece ter sido tirado dela.'

7I said to the shepherd: 'Lord, what is this tree? For I am confused about it, because after so many branches were cut from it, the tree is whole and nothing seems to have been taken from it.'

8'Ouça,' disse ele; 'esta grande árvore, que cobre planícies e montanhas e toda a terra, é a lei de Deus, que foi dada a todo o mundo; e esta lei é o Filho de Deus pregado até os confins da terra.'

8'Listen,' said he; 'this great tree, which covers plains and mountains and all the earth, is the law of God, which was given to all the world; and this law is the Son of God preached to the ends of the earth.'

9'E as pessoas que estão sob a sua sombra são as que ouviram a pregação e acreditaram nela.'

9'And the people who are under its shadow are those who heard the preaching and believed in it.'

10'E o anjo grande e glorioso é Miguel, que tem o poder sobre este povo e os governa. Pois é ele quem põe a lei nos corações dos crentes; por isso ele observa aqueles a quem deu a lei, para ver se a guardaram.'

10'And the great and glorious angel is Michael, who has the power over this people and governs them. For it is he who puts the law in the hearts of believers; therefore he observes those to whom he gave the law, to see if they kept it.'

11'Mas vês os gravetos de cada um; pois os gravetos são a lei. Vês, então, que muitos gravetos foram encontrados inúteis, e compreenderás cada um deles individualmente.'

11'But you see the sticks of each one; for the sticks are the law. You see, then, that many sticks were found useless, and you will understand each one of them individually.'
