Pastor de Hermas 66

1Depois de alguns dias, vi-o na mesma planície onde também tinha visto os pastores, e ele me disse: 'O que estás procurando?' 'Eu estou aqui, Senhor,' disse eu, 'para que me expliques estas coisas.'

1After some days, I saw him in the same plain where I had also seen the shepherds, and he said to me: 'What are you looking for?' 'I am here, Lord,' said I, 'so that you may explain these things to me.'

2'É necessário para ti ser afligido,' disse ele, 'não eu.' 'Por que, Senhor,' disse eu, 'eu devo ser afligido? Eu não caminhei nos teus mandamentos?'

2'It is necessary for you to be afflicted,' said he, 'not I.' 'Why, Lord,' said I, 'must I be afflicted? Did I not walk in your commandments?'

3'É necessário para ti,' disse ele, 'ser afligido, para que eles (tua casa) também possam se arrepender. Pois se tu não fores afligido, eles não poderão se arrepender.'

3'It is necessary for you,' said he, 'to be afflicted, so that they (your house) may also repent. For if you are not afflicted, they cannot repent.'

4'Mas eu te digo,' disse ele, 'que se tu fores afligido, o Senhor terá compaixão de ti e da tua casa, e te dará forças.'

4'But I tell you,' said he, 'that if you are afflicted, the Lord will have compassion on you and on your house, and will give you strength.'

5'E o Senhor enviará sobre ti tribulações, até que se arrependam. Mas agora, tenha paciência, e o Senhor te ajudará.'

5'And the Lord will send upon you tribulations, until they repent. But now, have patience, and the Lord will help you.'

6'E eu estarei contigo, e não te deixarei, até que tenhas completado o teu arrependimento e o da tua casa. Mas agora, guarde os meus mandamentos, e serás bem-aventurado.'

6'And I will be with you, and will not leave you, until you have completed your repentance and that of your house. But now, keep my commandments, and you will be blessed.'
