Pastor de Hermas 61

1Enquanto eu estava sentado em minha casa e glorificando o Senhor por todas as coisas que eu tinha visto, e estava pensando nos mandamentos, que eles são bons e poderosos e alegres e gloriosos e capazes de salvar a alma de um homem, eu me disse: 'Eu serei bem-aventurado se eu caminhar nestes mandamentos; sim, e todo aquele que caminhar neles será bem-aventurado.'

1While I was sitting in my house and glorifying the Lord for all things I had seen, and was thinking of the commandments, that they are good and powerful and joyful and glorious and able to save the soul of a man, I said to myself: 'I will be blessed if I walk in these commandments; yes, and everyone who walks in them will be blessed.'

2Enquanto eu estava dizendo estas coisas para mim mesmo, vejo-o subitamente sentado perto de mim, e falando assim: 'Por que estás em dúvida sobre os mandamentos que te ordenei? Eles são bons. Não duvide em nada, mas revista-te de fé no Senhor, e caminharás neles. Pois eu te fortalecerei neles.'

2While I was saying these things to myself, I see him suddenly sitting near me, and speaking thus: 'Why are you in doubt about the commandments I ordered you? They are good. Do not doubt in anything, but clothe yourself with faith in the Lord, and you will walk in them. For I will strengthen you in them.'

3'Estes mandamentos são adequados para aqueles que pretendem se arrepender; pois se eles não caminharam neles, seu arrependimento será em vão.'

3'These commandments are suitable for those who intend to repent; for if they did not walk in them, their repentance will be in vain.'

4'Vós, portanto, que estais vos arrependendo, abandonai as impiedades deste mundo que vos sufocam; e revestindo-vos de toda virtude de justiça, podereis guardar estes mandamentos, e não mais acrescentar aos vossos pecados.'

4'You, therefore, who are repenting, abandon the impieties of this world that choke you; and clothing yourselves with every virtue of righteousness, you may keep these commandments, and no longer add to your sins.'

5'Caminhai, portanto, nestes meus mandamentos e vivereis para Deus. Todas estas coisas foram ditas por mim a vós.'

5'Walk, therefore, in these my commandments and you will live for God. All these things were spoken by me to you.'

6E depois que ele falou estas coisas comigo, ele me disse: 'Vamos para o campo, e eu te mostrarei os pastores das ovelhas.' 'Vamos, Senhor,' disse eu.

6And after he spoke these things with me, he said to me: 'Let us go to the field, and I will show you the shepherds of the sheep.' 'Let us go, Lord,' said I.

7E chegamos a uma certa planície, e ele me mostrou um jovem pastor, vestido com uma capa de cor amarela.

7And we arrived at a certain plain, and he showed me a young shepherd, dressed in a yellow cloak.

8E ele estava apascentando muitas ovelhas, e estas ovelhas estavam, por assim dizer, em deleite e muito divertidas, e estavam saltando aqui e acolá. E o pastoreio estava feliz por causa de suas ovelhas; e o próprio pastor estava excessivamente alegre, e corria de um lado para o outro entre as ovelhas.

8And he was feeding many sheep, and these sheep were, so to speak, in delight and very amused, and were leaping here and there. And the feeding was happy because of his sheep; and the shepherd himself was exceedingly joyful, and ran from one side to the other among the sheep.
