Pastor de Hermas 58

1'Eu te disse agora mesmo,' disse ele, 'que és astuto e persistente em interrogar sobre a interpretação das parábolas. Mas, como és tão obstinado, eu te explicarei a parábola do campo e de tudo o que se segue, para que possas torná-la conhecida a todos. Ouça,' disse ele, 'e entenda.'

1'I told you just now,' said he, 'that you are cunning and persistent in questioning about the interpretation of the parables. But, since you are so obstinate, I will explain to you the parable of the field and of all that follows, so that you may make it known to all. Listen,' said he, 'and understand.'

2'O campo é este mundo; e o senhor do campo é aquele que criou todas as coisas e as completou e as fortaleceu.'

2'The field is this world; and the lord of the field is he who created all things and completed them and strengthened them.'

3'O servo é o Filho de Deus; e a vinha é este povo que Ele mesmo plantou.'

3'The servant is the Son of God; and the vineyard is this people whom He himself planted.'

4'As estacas são os santos anjos do Senhor que mantêm o Seu povo unido; e as ervas daninhas arrancadas da vinha são as iniquidades dos servos de Deus; e os pratos que Ele enviou da mesa são os mandamentos que Ele deu ao Seu povo através do Seu Filho.'

4'The stakes are the holy angels of the Lord who keep His people together; and the weeds pulled from the vineyard are the iniquities of the servants of God; and the dishes He sent from the table are the commandments He gave to His people through His Son.'

5'Os amigos e conselheiros são os santos anjos que foram criados primeiro; e o filho do senhor é o Espírito Santo que foi criado primeiro de toda a criação; e a ausência do senhor no estrangeiro é o tempo que resta até a sua vinda.'

5'The friends and counselors are the holy angels who were created first; and the son of the master is the Holy Spirit who was created first of all creation; and the absence of the master abroad is the time remaining until his coming.'
