Pastor de Hermas 53

1Ele mostrou-me muitas árvores novamente, algumas delas brotando e outras secas, e disse-me: 'Vês estas árvores?' 'Sim, Senhor,' disse eu, 'vejo algumas brotando e outras secas.'

1He showed me many trees again, some of them budding and others dry, and said to me: 'Do you see these trees?' 'Yes, Lord,' said I, 'I see some budding and others dry.'

2'Estas árvores,' disse ele, 'que brotam, são os justos, que habitarão no mundo vindouro; pois o mundo vindouro é o verão para os justos, mas o inverno para os pecadores.'

2'These trees,' said he, 'that bud, are the righteous, who shall dwell in the world to come; for the world to come is summer for the righteous, but winter for the sinners.'

3'Quando, portanto, brilhar a misericórdia do Senhor, então os que servem a Deus serão manifestos e todos serão tornados evidentes.'

3'When, therefore, the mercy of the Lord shines, then those who serve God will be manifest and all will be made evident.'

4'Pois como no verão os frutos de cada árvore são manifestos, e por eles é conhecido de que tipo elas são, assim também os frutos dos justos serão manifestos e todos serão conhecidos como florescendo naquele mundo.'

4'For as in summer the fruits of each tree are manifest, and by them it is known of what kind they are, so also the fruits of the righteous will be manifest and all will be known as flourishing in that world.'

5'Mas as nações e os pecadores, como as árvores secas que viste, serão encontrados assim, secos e sem frutos naquele mundo, e serão queimados como madeira, e serão manifestos, porque sua conduta foi má em suas vidas.'

5'But the nations and the sinners, like the dry trees you saw, will be found so, dry and without fruits in that world, and will be burned like wood, and will be manifest, because their conduct was evil in their lives.'

6'Pois os pecadores serão queimados, porque pecaram e não se arrependeram; e as nações serão queimadas, porque não conheceram aquele que as criou.'

6'For the sinners will be burned, because they sinned and did not repent; and the nations will be burned, because they did not know him who created them.'

7'Produza, portanto, frutos, para que no verão o seu fruto seja conhecido. Mas abstenha-se de muitas ocupações e não cometerás pecado; pois os que se ocupam com muitos negócios pecam muito, sendo distraídos por seus negócios e não servindo ao seu Senhor.'

7'Produce, therefore, fruits, so that in summer your fruit may be known. But abstain from many occupations and you will not commit sin; for those who occupy themselves with many businesses sin much, being distracted by their businesses and not serving their Lord.'

8'Como, então,' disse ele, 'pode tal pessoa pedir qualquer coisa ao Senhor e receber, não servindo ao Senhor? Pois os que servem a Ele receberão suas petições, mas os que não servem ao Senhor não receberão nada.'

8'How, then,' said he, 'can such a person ask anything of the Lord and receive, not serving the Lord? For those who serve Him will receive their petitions, but those who do not serve the Lord will receive nothing.'

9'Mas se alguém se ocupar com um só negócio, ele pode servir ao Senhor; pois sua mente não será corrompida do Senhor, mas ele o servirá, tendo sua mente pura.'

9'But if anyone occupies himself with a single business, he can serve the Lord; for his mind will not be corrupted from the Lord, but he will serve him, having his mind pure.'

10'Se, portanto, fizeres estas coisas, poderás produzir frutos para o mundo vindouro; e quem quer que faça estas coisas produzirá frutos.'

10'If, therefore, you do these things, you can produce fruits for the world to come; and whoever does these things will produce fruits.'
