2Algum tempo depois, vi-a banhando-se no rio Tibre e lhe dei a mão para ajudá-la a sair da água.

3Vendo sua beleza, refleti em meu coração: Como seria feliz se eu tivesse uma esposa assim em beleza e caráter.
3Seeing her beauty, I reflected in my heart: How happy I would be if I had a wife of such beauty and character.
4Apenas isto considerei, nada mais. Passado algum tempo, enquanto caminhava para Cumas, glorificando as criaturas de Deus, fui arrebatado pelo Espírito e levado por uma região intransitável, através de penhascos e ravinas.
4I only considered this, nothing more. After some time, while walking to Cumae, glorifying God's creatures, I was caught up by the Spirit and carried through an impassable region, through cliffs and ravines.
