Fragmentos de Papias e Quadrato 5

1Assim como dizem os presbíteros, aqueles que forem julgados dignos de uma morada nos céus para lá irão, outros desfrutarão das delícias do Paraíso, e outros possuirão o resplendor da cidade; pois por toda parte o Salvador será contemplado, conforme forem dignos os que o virem. Mas há esta distinção entre a habitação dos que produzem a cem por um, a dos que produzem a sessenta por um e a dos que produzem a trinta por um; pois os primeiros serão levados para os céus, os segundos habitarão no Paraíso, e os últimos povoarão a cidade.

1As the elders say, then those who are deemed worthy of an abode in heaven shall go there, others shall enjoy the delights of Paradise, and others shall possess the splendour of the city; for everywhere the Saviour will be seen, according as they shall be worthy who see Him. But there is this distinction between the habitation of those who produce an hundredfold, and that of those who produce sixty-fold, and that of those who produce thirty-fold; for the first will be taken up into the heavens, the second class will dwell in Paradise, and the last will inhabit the city.

2E por esta causa disse o Senhor: Na casa de meu Pai há muitas moradas; porque todas as coisas pertencem a Deus, que a todos provê com uma morada conveniente. Os presbíteros, discípulos dos apóstolos, dizem ser esta a ordenação e dispensação dos salvos, e que eles avançam por degraus desta natureza, ascendendo pelo Espírito ao Filho, e pelo Filho ao Pai, até que, no devido tempo, o Filho entregue a sua obra ao Pai, a fim de que Deus seja tudo em todos.

2And on this account the Lord said, In my Father's house are many mansions; for all things belong to God, who supplies all with a suitable dwelling-place. The elders, the disciples of the apostles, say that this is the arrangement and dispensation of those who are saved, and that they advance through steps of this nature, ascending through the Spirit to the Son, and through the Son to the Father, until in due time the Son yields up His work to the Father, that God may be all in all.
