Oséias 4

1Ouvi a palavra do SENHOR, vós filhos de Israel, porque o SENHOR tem uma contenda com os habitantes da terra; porque na terra não há verdade, nem benignidade, nem conhecimento de Deus.

1Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because {there is} no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land.

2Só permanecem o perjurar, o mentir, o matar, o furtar e o adulterar; fazem violência, um ato sanguinário segue imediatamente a outro.

2By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. {blood: Heb. bloods}

3Por isso a terra se lamentará, e qualquer que morar nela desfalecerá, com os animais do campo e com as aves do céu; e até os peixes do mar serão tirados.

3Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.

4Todavia ninguém contenda, ninguém repreenda, porque o teu povo é como os que contendem com o sacerdote.

4Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people {are} as they that strive with the priest.

5Por isso tropeçarás de dia, e o profeta contigo tropeçará de noite; e destruirei a tua mãe.

5Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother. {destroy: Heb. cut off}

6O meu povo foi destruído, porque lhe faltou o conhecimento; porque tu rejeitaste o conhecimento, também eu te rejeitarei, para que não sejas sacerdote diante de mim; e, visto que te esqueceste da lei do teu Deus, também eu me esquecerei de teus filhos.

6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. {destroyed: Heb. cut off}

7Como eles se multiplicaram, assim pecaram contra mim; eu mudarei a sua honra em vergonha.

7As they were increased, so they sinned against me: {therefore} will I change their glory into shame.

8Comem da oferta pelo pecado do meu povo, e pela transgressão dele têm desejo ardente.

8They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. {set...: Heb. lift up their soul to}

9Por isso, como é o povo, assim será o sacerdote; e castigá-lo-ei segundo os seus caminhos, e dar-lhe-ei a recompensa das suas obras.

9And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. {punish: Heb. visit upon} {reward: Heb. cause to return}

10Comerão, mas não se fartarão; entregar-se-ão à luxúria, mas não se multiplicarão; porque deixaram de atentar ao Senhor.

10For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD.

11A luxúria, e o vinho, e o mosto tiram o coração.

11Whoredom and wine and new wine take away the heart.

12O meu povo consulta a sua madeira, e a sua vara lhe responde, porque o espírito da luxúria os engana, e prostituem-se, apartando-se da sujeição do seu Deus.

12My people ask counsel at their stocks, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredoms hath caused {them} to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their God.

13Sacrificam sobre os cumes dos montes, e queimam incenso sobre os outeiros, debaixo do carvalho, e do álamo, e do olmeiro, porque é boa a sua sombra; por isso vossas filhas se prostituem, e as vossas noras adulteram.

13They sacrifice upon the tops of the mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof {is} good: therefore your daughters shall commit whoredom, and your spouses shall commit adultery.

14Eu não castigarei vossas filhas, quando se prostituem, nem vossas noras, quando adulteram; porque eles mesmos com as prostitutas se desviam, e com as meretrizes sacrificam; pois o povo que não tem entendimento será transtornado.

14I will not punish your daughters when they commit whoredom, nor your spouses when they commit adultery: for themselves are separated with whores, and they sacrifice with harlots: therefore the people {that} doth not understand shall fall. {I will not: or, Shall I not} {fall: or, be punished}

15Ainda que tu, ó Israel, queiras prostituir-te, contudo não se faça culpado Judá; não venhais a Gilgal, e não subais a Bete-Áven, e não jureis, dizendo: Vive o Senhor.

15Though thou, Israel, play the harlot, {yet} let not Judah offend; and come not ye unto Gilgal, neither go ye up to Bethaven, nor swear, The LORD liveth.

16Porque como uma novilha obstinada se rebelou Israel; agora o Senhor os apascentará como a um cordeiro num lugar espaçoso.

16For Israel slideth back as a backsliding heifer: now the LORD will feed them as a lamb in a large place.

17Efraim está entregue aos ídolos; deixa-o.

17Ephraim {is} joined to idols: let him alone.

18A sua bebida se foi; lançaram-se à luxúria continuamente; certamente os seus governadores amam a vergonha.

18Their drink is sour: they have committed whoredom continually: her rulers {with} shame do love, Give ye. {sour: Heb. gone} {rulers: Heb. shields}

19Um vento os envolveu nas suas asas, e envergonhar-se-ão por causa dos seus sacrifícios.

19The wind hath bound her up in her wings, and they shall be ashamed because of their sacrifices.
