Sobre a Oração (Tertuliano) 26

1Não despedirás sem oração um irmão que entrou em tua casa. Viste, diz a Escritura, um irmão? Viste teu Senhor; sobretudo se for um estrangeiro, para que não seja talvez um anjo. Mas, por tua vez, quando fores recebido pelos irmãos, não anteporás os prazeres terrenos aos celestiais, pois tua fé será imediatamente julgada. De outro modo, como dirás, segundo o preceito, Paz a esta casa, se não trocares a paz com os que nela estão?

1You will not dismiss a brother who has entered your house without prayer.--" Have you seen," says Scripture, "a brother? you have seen your Lord;"--especially "a stranger," lest perhaps he be "an angel." But again, when received yourself by brethren, you will not make earthly refreshments prior to heavenly, for your faith will forthwith be judged. Or else how will you--according to the precept--say, "Peace to this house," unless you exchange mutual peace with them who are in the house?
