Obadias 1

1Visão de Obadias: Assim diz o Senhor DEUS a respeito de Edom: Temos ouvido a pregação do SENHOR, e foi enviado aos gentios um emissário, dizendo: Levantai-vos, e levantemo-nos contra ela para a guerra.

1The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

2Eis que te fiz pequeno entre os gentios; tu és muito desprezado.

2Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

3A soberba do teu coração te enganou, como o que habita nas fendas das rochas, na sua alta morada, que diz no seu coração: Quem me derrubará em terra?

3The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation {is} high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

4Se te elevares como águia, e puseres o teu ninho entre as estrelas, dali te derrubarei, diz o Senhor.

4Though thou exalt {thyself} as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

5Se viessem a ti ladrões, ou assaltantes de noite (como estás destruído! ), não furtariam o que lhes bastasse? Se a ti viessem os vindimadores, não deixariam algumas uvas?

5If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave {some} grapes? {some...: or, gleanings?}

6Como foram rebuscados os bens de Esaú! Como foram investigados os seus tesouros escondidos!

6How are {the things} of Esau searched out! {how} are his hidden things sought up!

7Todos os teus confederados te levaram até a fronteira; os que gozam da tua paz te enganaram, prevaleceram contra ti; os que comem o teu pão puseram debaixo de ti uma armadilha; não há nele entendimento.

7All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee {even} to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, {and} prevailed against thee; {they that eat} thy bread have laid a wound under thee: {there is} none understanding in him. {that were...: Heb. of thy peace} {they...: Heb. the men of thy bread} {in him: or, of it}

8Porventura não acontecerá naquele dia, diz o Senhor, que farei perecer os sábios de Edom, e o entendimento do monte de Esaú?

8Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise {men} out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

9E os teus poderosos, ó Temã, estarão atemorizados, para que do monte de Esaú seja cada um exterminado pela matança.

9And thy mighty {men}, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

10Por causa da violência feita a teu irmão Jacó, cobrir-te-á a confusão, e serás exterminado para sempre.

10For {thy} violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

11No dia em que o confrontaste, no dia em que estranhos levaram cativo o seu exército, e os estrangeiros entravam pelas suas portas, e lançaram sortes sobre Jerusalém, tu eras também como um deles.

11In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou {wast} as one of them. {captive...: or, his substance}

12Mas tu não devias olhar com prazer para o dia de teu irmão, no dia do seu infortúnio; nem alegrar-te sobre os filhos de Judá, no dia da sua ruína; nem alargar a tua boca, no dia da angústia;

12But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress. {spoken...: Heb. magnified thy mouth}

13Nem entrar pela porta do meu povo, no dia da sua calamidade; sim, tu não devias olhar satisfeito o seu mal, no dia da sua calamidade; nem lançar mão dos seus bens, no dia da sua calamidade;

13Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid {hands} on their substance in the day of their calamity; {substance: or, forces}

14Nem parar nas encruzilhadas, para exterminares os que escapassem; nem entregar os que lhe restassem, no dia da angústia.

14Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress. {delivered up: or, shut up}

15Porque o dia do Senhor está perto, sobre todos os gentios; como tu fizeste, assim se fará contigo; a tua recompensa voltará sobre a tua cabeça.

15For the day of the LORD {is} near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

16Porque, como vós bebestes no meu santo monte, assim beberão também de contínuo todos os gentios; beberão, e sorverão, e serão como se nunca tivessem sido.

16For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, {so} shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been. {swallow...: or, sup up}

17Mas no monte Sião haverá livramento, e ele será santo; e os da casa de Jacó possuirão as suas herdades.

17But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. {deliverance: or, they that escape} {there...: or, it shall be holy}

18E a casa de Jacó será fogo, e a casa de José uma chama, e a casa de Esaú palha; e se acenderão contra eles, e os consumirão; e ninguém mais restará da casa de Esaú, porque o Senhor o falou.

18And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be {any} remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken {it}.

19E os do sul possuirão o monte de Esaú, e os das planícies, os filisteus; possuirão também os campos de Efraim, e os campos de Samaria; e Benjamim possuirá a Gileade.

19And {they of} the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and {they of} the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin {shall possess} Gilead.

20E os cativos deste exército, dos filhos de Israel, possuirão os cananeus, até Zarefate; e os cativos de Jerusalém, que estão em Sefarade, possuirão as cidades do sul.

20And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel {shall possess} that of the Canaanites, {even} unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which {is} in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south. {which...: or, shall possess that which is in}

21E subirão salvadores ao monte Sião, para julgarem o monte de Esaú; e o reino será do Senhor.

21And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD'S.
