Números 13

1E falou o SENHOR a Moisés, dizendo:

1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

2Envia homens que espiem a terra de Canaã, que eu hei de dar aos filhos de Israel; de cada tribo de seus pais enviareis um homem, sendo cada um príncipe entre eles.

2Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.

3E enviou-os Moisés do deserto de Parã, segundo a ordem do Senhor; todos aqueles homens eram cabeças dos filhos de Israel.

3And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men {were} heads of the children of Israel.

4E estes são os seus nomes: Da tribo de Rúben, Samua, filho de Zacur;

4And these {were} their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.

5Da tribo de Simeão, Safate, filho de Hori;

5Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.

6Da tribo de Judá, Calebe, filho de Jefoné;

6Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.

7Da tribo de Issacar, Jigeal, filho de José;

7Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.

8Da tribo de Efraim, Oséias, filho de Num;

8Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun. {Oshea: also called, Joshua}

9Da tribo de Benjamim, Palti, filho de Rafu;

9Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.

10Da tribo de Zebulom, Gadiel, filho de Sodi;

10Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.

11Da tribo de José, pela tribo de Manassés, Gadi filho de Susi;

11Of the tribe of Joseph, {namely}, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.

12Da tribo de Dã, Amiel, filho de Gemali;

12Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.

13Da tribo de Aser, Setur, filho de Micael;

13Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.

14Da tribo de Naftali, Nabi, filho de Vofsi;

14Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.

15Da tribo de Gade, Geuel, filho de Maqui.

15Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.

16Estes são os nomes dos homens que Moisés enviou a espiar aquela terra; e a Oséias, filho de Num, Moisés chamou Josué.

16These {are} the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua. {Oshea: also called Joshua} {Jehoshua: or, Joshua}

17Enviou-os, pois, Moisés a espiar a terra de Canaã; e disse-lhes: Subi por aqui para o lado do sul, e subi à montanha:

17And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this {way} southward, and go up into the mountain:

18E vede que terra é, e o povo que nela habita; se é forte ou fraco; se pouco ou muito.

18And see the land, what it {is}; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they {be} strong or weak, few or many;

19E como é a terra em que habita, se boa ou má; e quais são as cidades em que eles habitam; se em arraiais, ou em fortalezas.

19And what the land {is} that they dwell in, whether it {be} good or bad; and what cities {they be} that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;

20Também como é a terra, se fértil ou estéril; se nela há árvores, ou não; e esforçai-vos, e tomai do fruto da terra. E eram aqueles dias os dias das primícias das uvas.

20And what the land {is}, whether it {be} fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time {was} the time of the firstripe grapes.

21Assim subiram e espiaram a terra desde o deserto de Zim, até Reobe, à entrada de Hamate.

21So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.

22E subiram para o lado do sul, e vieram até Hebrom; e estavam ali Aimã, Sesai e Talmai, filhos de Anaque (Hebrom foi edificada sete anos antes de Zoã no Egito).

22And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, {were}. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)

23Depois foram até ao vale de Escol, e dali cortaram um ramo de vide com um cacho de uvas, o qual trouxeram dois homens, sobre uma vara; como também das romãs e dos figos.

23And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and {they brought} of the pomegranates, and of the figs. {brook: or, valley}

24Chamaram àquele lugar o vale de Escol, por causa do cacho que dali cortaram os filhos de Israel.

24The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence. {brook: or, valley} {Eshcol: that is, A cluster of grapes}

25E eles voltaram de espiar a terra, ao fim de quarenta dias.

25And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26E caminharam, e vieram a Moisés e a Arão, e a toda a congregação dos filhos de Israel no deserto de Parã, em Cades; e deram-lhes notícias, a eles, e a toda a congregação, e mostraram-lhes o fruto da terra.

26And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land.

27E contaram-lhe, e disseram: Fomos à terra a que nos enviaste; e verdadeiramente mana leite e mel, e este é o seu fruto.

27And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this {is} the fruit of it.

28O povo, porém, que habita nessa terra é poderoso, e as cidades fortificadas e mui grandes; e também ali vimos os filhos de Anaque.

28Nevertheless the people {be} strong that dwell in the land, and the cities {are} walled, {and} very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29Os amalequitas habitam na terra do sul; e os heteus, e os jebuseus, e os amorreus habitam na montanha; e os cananeus habitam junto do mar, e pela margem do Jordão.

29The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30Então Calebe fez calar o povo perante Moisés, e disse: Certamente subiremos e a possuiremos em herança; porque seguramente prevaleceremos contra ela.

30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31Porém, os homens que com ele subiram disseram: Não poderemos subir contra aquele povo, porque é mais forte do que nós.

31But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they {are} stronger than we.

32E infamaram a terra que tinham espiado, dizendo aos filhos de Israel: A terra, pela qual passamos a espiá-la, é terra que consome os seus moradores; e todo o povo que vimos nela são homens de grande estatura.

32And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, {is} a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it {are} men of a great stature. {men...: Heb. men of statures}

33Também vimos ali gigantes, filhos de Anaque, descendentes dos gigantes; e éramos aos nossos olhos como gafanhotos, e assim também éramos aos seus olhos.

33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, {which come} of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
