Natividade de Maria 2

1Ana respondeu: 'Viva o Senhor meu Deus! Se chegar a ter algum fruto, levá-lo-ei como oferenda ao Senhor.'

1Anna answered: 'As the Lord my God lives! If I come to have any fruit, I will take it as an offering to the Lord.'

2Vieram mensageiros: 'Joaquim está de volta, pois um anjo de Deus lhe disse que Ana vai conceber.'

2Messengers came: 'Joachim is on his way back, for an angel of God told him that Anna will conceive.'

3Ao chegar Joaquim, Ana atirou-se ao seu pescoço dizendo: 'Agora vejo que Deus me bendisse!'

3When Joachim arrived, Anna threw herself on his neck saying: 'Now I see that God has blessed me!'

4O tempo de Ana cumpriu-se e no nono mês deu à luz uma menina.

4Anna's time was fulfilled and in the ninth month she gave birth to a girl.

5Ana pôs-lhe o nome de Maria. Dia a dia a menina ia robustecendo-se.

5Anna named her Mary. Day by day the girl grew stronger.

6Ana não consentiu que nada vulgar ou impuro passasse por suas mãos.

6Anna did not allow anything common or impure to pass through her hands.

7Chamou donzelas hebréias, todas virgens, para que a entretivessem.

7She called Hebrew maidens, all virgins, to entertain her.
