Mateus 27

1E, chegando a manhã, todos os príncipes dos sacerdotes, e os anciãos do povo, formavam juntamente conselho contra Jesus, para o matarem;

1When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

2E maniatando-o, o levaram e entregaram ao presidente Pôncio Pilatos.

2And when they had bound him, they led {him} away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

3Então Judas, o que o traíra, vendo que fora condenado, trouxe, arrependido, as trinta moedas de prata aos príncipes dos sacerdotes e aos anciãos,

3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

4Dizendo: Pequei, traindo o sangue inocente. Eles, porém, disseram: Que nos importa? Isso é contigo.

4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What {is that} to us? see thou {to that}.

5E ele, atirando para o templo as moedas de prata, retirou-se e foi-se enforcar.

5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

6E os príncipes dos sacerdotes, tomando as moedas de prata, disseram: Não é lícito colocá-las no cofre das ofertas, porque são preço de sangue.

6And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

7E, tendo deliberado em conselho, compraram com elas o campo de um oleiro, para sepultura dos estrangeiros.

7And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.

8Por isso foi chamado aquele campo, até ao dia de hoje, Campo de Sangue.

8Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.

9Então se realizou o que vaticinara o profeta Jeremias: Tomaram as trinta moedas de prata, preço do que foi avaliado, que certos filhos de Israel avaliaram,

9Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value; {whom...: or, whom they bought of the children of Israel}

10E deram-nas pelo campo do oleiro, segundo o que o Senhor me determinou.

10And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.

11E foi Jesus apresentado ao presidente, e o presidente o interrogou, dizendo: És tu o Rei dos Judeus? E disse-lhe Jesus: Tu o dizes.

11And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.

12E, sendo acusado pelos príncipes dos sacerdotes e pelos anciãos, nada respondeu.

12And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.

13Disse-lhe então Pilatos: Não ouves quanto testificam contra ti?

13Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?

14E nem uma palavra lhe respondeu, de sorte que o presidente estava muito maravilhado.

14And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

15Ora, por ocasião da festa, costumava o presidente soltar um preso, escolhendo o povo aquele que quisesse.

15Now at {that} feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.

16E tinham então um preso bem conhecido, chamado Barrabás.

16And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

17Portanto, estando eles reunidos, disse-lhes Pilatos: Qual quereis que vos solte? Barrabás, ou Jesus, chamado Cristo?

17Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?

18Porque sabia que por inveja o haviam entregado.

18For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

19E, estando ele assentado no tribunal, sua mulher mandou-lhe dizer: Não entres na questão desse justo, porque num sonho muito sofri por causa dele.

19When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.

20Mas os príncipes dos sacerdotes e os anciãos persuadiram à multidão que pedisse Barrabás e matasse Jesus.

20But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

21E, respondendo o presidente, disse-lhes: Qual desses dois quereis vós que eu solte? E eles disseram: Barrabás.

21The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

22Disse-lhes Pilatos: Que farei então de Jesus, chamado Cristo? Disseram-lhe todos: Seja crucificado.

22Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? {They} all say unto him, Let him be crucified.

23O presidente, porém, disse: Mas que mal fez ele? E eles mais clamavam, dizendo: Seja crucificado.

23And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.

24Então Pilatos, vendo que nada aproveitava, antes o tumulto crescia, tomando água, lavou as mãos diante da multidão, dizendo: Estou inocente do sangue deste justo. Considerai isso.

24When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but {that} rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed {his} hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye {to it}.

25E, respondendo todo o povo, disse: O seu sangue caia sobre nós e sobre nossos filhos.

25Then answered all the people, and said, His blood {be} on us, and on our children.

26Então soltou-lhes Barrabás, e, tendo mandado açoitar a Jesus, entregou-o para ser crucificado.

26Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered {him} to be crucified.

27E logo os soldados do presidente, conduzindo Jesus à audiência, reuniram junto dele toda a coorte.

27Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band {of soldiers}. {common hall: or, governor's house}

28E, despindo-o, o cobriram com uma capa de escarlate;

28And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.

29E, tecendo uma coroa de espinhos, puseram-lha na cabeça, e em sua mão direita uma cana; e, ajoelhando diante dele, o escarneciam, dizendo: Salve, Rei dos judeus.

29And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put {it} upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!

30E, cuspindo nele, tiraram-lhe a cana, e batiam-lhe com ela na cabeça.

30And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

31E, depois de o haverem escarnecido, tiraram-lhe a capa, vestiram-lhe as suas vestes e o levaram para ser crucificado.

31And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify {him}.

32E, quando saíam, encontraram um homem cireneu, chamado Simão, a quem constrangeram a levar a sua cruz.

32And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

33E, chegando ao lugar chamado Gólgota, que se diz: Lugar da Caveira,

33And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,

34Deram-lhe a beber vinagre misturado com fel; mas ele, provando-o, não quis beber.

34They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted {thereof}, he would not drink.

35E, havendo-o crucificado, repartiram as suas vestes, lançando sortes, para que se cumprisse o que foi dito pelo profeta: Repartiram entre si as minhas vestes, e sobre a minha túnica lançaram sortes.

35And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

36E, assentados, o guardavam ali.

36And sitting down they watched him there;

37E por cima da sua cabeça puseram escrita a sua acusação: este e³ jesus, o rei dos judeus.

37And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

38E foram crucificados com ele dois salteadores, um à direita, e outro à esquerda.

38Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

39E os que passavam blasfemavam dele, meneando as cabeças,

39And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,

40E dizendo: Tu, que destróis o templo, e em três dias o reedificas, salva-te a ti mesmo. Se és Filho de Deus, desce da cruz.

40And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest {it} in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

41E da mesma maneira também os príncipes dos sacerdotes, com os escribas, e anciãos, e fariseus, escarnecendo, diziam:

41Likewise also the chief priests mocking {him}, with the scribes and elders, said,

42Salvou os outros, e a si mesmo não pode salvar-se. Se é o Rei de Israel, desça agora da cruz, e creremos nele.

42He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

43Confiou em Deus; livre-o agora, se o ama; porque disse: Sou Filho de Deus.

43He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.

44E o mesmo lhe lançaram também em rosto os salteadores que com ele estavam crucificados.

44The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

45E desde a hora sexta houve trevas sobre toda a terra, até à hora nona.

45Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

46E perto da hora nona exclamou Jesus em alta voz, dizendo: Eli, Eli, lamá sabactâni; isto é, Deus meu, Deus meu, por que me desamparaste?

46And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

47E alguns dos que ali estavam, ouvindo isto, diziam: Este chama por Elias,

47Some of them that stood there, when they heard {that}, said, This {man} calleth for Elias.

48E logo um deles, correndo, tomou uma esponja, e embebeu-a em vinagre, e, pondo-a numa cana, dava-lhe de beber.

48And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled {it} with vinegar, and put {it} on a reed, and gave him to drink.

49Os outros, porém, diziam: Deixa, vejamos se Elias vem livrá-lo.

49The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.

50E Jesus, clamando outra vez com grande voz, rendeu o espírito.

50Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

51E eis que o véu do templo se rasgou em dois, de alto a baixo; e tremeu a terra, e fenderam-se as pedras;

51And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

52E abriram-se os sepulcros, e muitos corpos de santos que dormiam foram ressuscitados;

52And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,

53E, saindo dos sepulcros, depois da ressurreição dele, entraram na cidade santa, e apareceram a muitos.

53And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

54E o centurião e os que com ele guardavam a Jesus, vendo o terremoto, e as coisas que haviam sucedido, tiveram grande temor, e disseram: Verdadeiramente este era o Filho de Deus.

54Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

55E estavam ali, olhando de longe, muitas mulheres que tinham seguido Jesus desde a Galiléia, para o servir;

55And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him:

56Entre as quais estavam Maria Madalena, e Maria, mãe de Tiago e de José, e a mãe dos filhos de Zebedeu.

56Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.

57E, vinda já a tarde, chegou um homem rico, de Arimatéia, por nome José, que também era discípulo de Jesus.

57When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:

58Este foi ter com Pilatos, e pediu-lhe o corpo de Jesus. Então Pilatos mandou que o corpo lhe fosse dado.

58He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered.

59E José, tomando o corpo, envolveu-o num fino e limpo lençol,

59And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,

60E o pôs no seu sepulcro novo, que havia aberto em rocha, e, rodando uma grande pedra para a porta do sepulcro, retirou-se.

60And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

61E estavam ali Maria Madalena e a outra Maria, assentadas defronte do sepulcro.

61And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.

62E no dia seguinte, que é o dia depois da Preparação, reuniram-se os príncipes dos sacerdotes e os fariseus em casa de Pilatos,

62Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,

63Dizendo: Senhor, lembramo-nos de que aquele enganador, vivendo ainda, disse: Depois de três dias ressuscitarei.

63Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.

64Manda, pois, que o sepulcro seja guardado com segurança até ao terceiro dia, não se dê o caso que os seus discípulos vão de noite, e o furtem, e digam ao povo: Ressuscitou dentre os mortos; e assim o último erro será pior do que o primeiro.

64Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.

65E disse-lhes Pilatos: Tendes a guarda; ide, guardai-o como entenderdes.

65Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make {it} as sure as ye can.

66E, indo eles, seguraram o sepulcro com a guarda, selando a pedra.

66So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.
