Mateus 22

1Então Jesus, tomando a palavra, tornou a falar-lhes em parábolas, dizendo:

1The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,

2O reino dos céus é semelhante a um certo rei que celebrou as bodas de seu filho;

2And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.

3E enviou os seus servos a chamar os convidados para as bodas, e estes não quiseram vir.

3Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and {my} fatlings {are} killed, and all things {are} ready: come unto the marriage.

4Depois, enviou outros servos, dizendo: Dizei aos convidados: Eis que tenho o meu jantar preparado, os meus bois e cevados já mortos, e tudo já pronto; vinde às bodas.

4But they made light of {it}, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:

5Eles, porém, não fazendo caso, foram, um para o seu campo, outro para o seu negócio;

5And the remnant took his servants, and entreated {them} spitefully, and slew {them}.

6E os outros, apoderando-se dos servos, os ultrajaram e mataram.

6But when the king heard {thereof}, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.

7E o rei, tendo notícia disto, encolerizou-se e, enviando os seus exércitos, destruiu aqueles homicidas, e incendiou a sua cidade.

7Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.

8Então diz aos servos: As bodas, na verdade, estão preparadas, mas os convidados não eram dignos.

8Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.

9Ide, pois, às saídas dos caminhos, e convidai para as bodas a todos os que encontrardes.

9So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.

10E os servos, saindo pelos caminhos, ajuntaram todos quantos encontraram, tanto maus como bons; e a festa nupcial foi cheia de convidados.

10And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

11E o rei, entrando para ver os convidados, viu ali um homem que não estava trajado com veste de núpcias.

11And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

12E disse-lhe: Amigo, como entraste aqui, não tendo veste nupcial? E ele emudeceu.

12Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast {him} into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

13Disse, então, o rei aos servos: Amarrai-o de pés e mãos, levai-o, e lançai-o nas trevas exteriores; ali haverá pranto e ranger de dentes.

13For many are called, but few {are} chosen.

14Porque muitos são chamados, mas poucos escolhidos.

14Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in {his} talk.

15Então, retirando-se os fariseus, consultaram entre si como o surpreenderiam nalguma palavra;

15And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any {man}: for thou regardest not the person of men.

16E enviaram-lhe os seus discípulos, com os herodianos, dizendo: Mestre, bem sabemos que és verdadeiro, e ensinas o caminho de Deus segundo a verdade, e de ninguém se te dá, porque não olhas a aparência dos homens.

16Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?

17Dize-nos, pois, que te parece? É lícito pagar o tributo a César, ou não?

17But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, {ye} hypocrites?

18Jesus, porém, conhecendo a sua malícia, disse: Por que me experimentais, hipócritas?

18Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. {penny: in value seven pence halfpenny}

19Mostrai-me a moeda do tributo. E eles lhe apresentaram um dinheiro.

19And he saith unto them, Whose {is} this image and superscription? {superscription: or, inscription}

20E ele diz-lhes: De quem é esta efígie e esta inscrição?

20They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

21Dizem-lhe eles: De César. Então ele lhes disse: Dai pois a César o que é de César, e a Deus o que é de Deus.

21When they had heard {these words}, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

22E eles, ouvindo isto, maravilharam-se, e, deixando-o, se retiraram.

22The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,

23No mesmo dia chegaram junto dele os saduceus, que dizem não haver ressurreição, e o interrogaram,

23Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

24Dizendo: Mestre, Moisés disse: Se morrer alguém, não tendo filhos, casará o seu irmão com a mulher dele, e suscitará descendência a seu irmão.

24Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:

25Ora, houve entre nós sete irmãos; e o primeiro, tendo casado, morreu e, não tendo descendência, deixou sua mulher a seu irmão.

25Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. {seventh: Gr. seven}

26Da mesma sorte o segundo, e o terceiro, até ao sétimo;

26And last of all the woman died also.

27Por fim, depois de todos, morreu também a mulher.

27Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.

28Portanto, na ressurreição, de qual dos sete será a mulher, visto que todos a possuíram?

28Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

29Jesus, porém, respondendo, disse-lhes: Errais, não conhecendo as Escrituras, nem o poder de Deus.

29For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

30Porque na ressurreição nem casam nem são dados em casamento; mas serão como os anjos de Deus no céu.

30But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

31E, acerca da ressurreição dos mortos, não tendes lido o que Deus vos declarou, dizendo:

31I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

32Eu sou o Deus de Abraão, o Deus de Isaque, e o Deus de Jacó? Ora, Deus não é Deus dos mortos, mas dos vivos.

32And when the multitude heard {this}, they were astonished at his doctrine.

33E, as turbas, ouvindo isto, ficaram maravilhadas da sua doutrina.

33But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.

34E os fariseus, ouvindo que ele fizera emudecer os saduceus, reuniram-se no mesmo lugar.

34Then one of them, {which was} a lawyer, asked {him a question}, tempting him, and saying,

35E um deles, doutor da lei, interrogou-o para o experimentar, dizendo:

35Master, which {is} the great commandment in the law?

36Mestre, qual é o grande mandamento na lei?

36Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

37E Jesus disse-lhe: Amarás o Senhor teu Deus de todo o teu coração, e de toda a tua alma, e de todo o teu pensamento.

37This is the first and great commandment.

38Este é o primeiro e grande mandamento.

38And the second {is} like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

39E o segundo, semelhante a este, é: Amarás o teu próximo como a ti mesmo.

39On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

40Destes dois mandamentos dependem toda a lei e os profetas.

40While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,

41E, estando reunidos os fariseus, interrogou-os Jesus,

41Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, {The Son} of David.

42Dizendo: Que pensais vós do Cristo? De quem é filho? Eles disseram-lhe: De Davi.

42He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,

43Disse-lhes ele: Como é então que Davi, em espírito, lhe chama Senhor, dizendo:

43The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?

44Disse o Senhor ao meu Senhor:Assenta-te à minha direita,Até que eu ponha os teus inimigos por escabelo de teus pés?

44If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?

45Se Davi, pois, lhe chama Senhor, como é seu filho?

45And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any {man} from that day forth ask him any more {questions}.

46E ninguém podia responder-lhe uma palavra; nem desde aquele dia ousou mais alguém interrogá-lo.
