1Chapter 4 — Quintus the apostate.

2Agora, um chamado Quintus, um frígio, que havia chegado recentemente da Frígia, quando viu as feras, ficou com medo.

2Now one named Quintus, a Phrygian, who was but lately come from Phrygia, when he saw the wild beasts, became afraid.

3Este foi o homem que forçou a si mesmo e a alguns outros a se apresentarem voluntariamente para julgamento.

3This was the man who forced himself and some others to come forward voluntarily for trial.

4Ele, o procônsul, depois de muitas súplicas, convenceu-o a jurar e a oferecer sacrifícios.

5Portanto, irmãos, não elogiamos aqueles que se entregam ao sofrimento, visto que o Evangelho não ensina a fazê-lo.

5Wherefore, brethren, we do not commend those who give themselves up to suffering, seeing the Gospel does not teach so to do.
