Lucas 16

1E dizia também aos seus discípulos: Havia um certo homem rico, o qual tinha um mordomo; e este foi acusado perante ele de dissipar os seus bens.

1And he said also unto his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted his goods.

2E ele, chamando-o, disse-lhe: Que é isto que ouço de ti? Dá contas da tua mordomia, porque já não poderás ser mais meu mordomo.

2And he called him, and said unto him, How is it that I hear this of thee? give an account of thy stewardship; for thou mayest be no longer steward.

3E o mordomo disse consigo: Que farei, pois que o meu senhor me tira a mordomia? Cavar, não posso; de mendigar, tenho vergonha.

3Then the steward said within himself, What shall I do? for my lord taketh away from me the stewardship: I cannot dig; to beg I am ashamed.

4Eu sei o que hei de fazer, para que, quando for desapossado da mordomia, me recebam em suas casas.

4I am resolved what to do, that, when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.

5E, chamando a si cada um dos devedores do seu senhor, disse ao primeiro: Quanto deves ao meu senhor?

5So he called every one of his lord's debtors {unto him}, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?

6E ele respondeu: Cem medidas de azeite. E disse-lhe: Toma a tua obrigação, e assentando-te já, escreve cinqüenta.

6And he said, An hundred measures of oil. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and sit down quickly, and write fifty. {measures: the word Batus in the original containeth nine gallons three quarts}

7Disse depois a outro: E tu, quanto deves? E ele respondeu: Cem alqueires de trigo. E disse-lhe: Toma a tua obrigação, e escreve oitenta.

7Then said he to another, And how much owest thou? And he said, An hundred measures of wheat. And he said unto him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. {measures: the word here interpreted a measure in the original containeth about fourteen bushels and two quarts}

8E louvou aquele senhor o injusto mordomo por haver procedido prudentemente, porque os filhos deste mundo são mais prudentes na sua geração do que os filhos da luz.

8And the lord commended the unjust steward, because he had done wisely: for the children of this world are in their generation wiser than the children of light.

9E eu vos digo: Granjeai amigos com as riquezas da injustiça; para que, quando estas vos faltarem, vos recebam eles nos tabernáculos eternos.

9And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting habitations. {mammon: or, riches}

10Quem é fiel no mínimo, também é fiel no muito; quem é injusto no mínimo, também é injusto no muito.

10He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

11Pois, se nas riquezas injustas não fostes fiéis, quem vos confiará as verdadeiras?

11If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true {riches}? {mammon: or, riches}

12E, se no alheio não fostes fiéis, quem vos dará o que é vosso?

12And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

13Nenhum servo pode servir dois senhores; porque, ou há de odiar um e amar o outro, ou se há de chegar a um e desprezar o outro. Não podeis servir a Deus e a Mamom.

13No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

14E os fariseus, que eram avarentos, ouviam todas estas coisas, e zombavam dele.

14And the Pharisees also, who were covetous, heard all these things: and they derided him.

15E disse-lhes: Vós sois os que vos justificais a vós mesmos diante dos homens, mas Deus conhece os vossos corações, porque o que entre os homens é elevado, perante Deus é abominação.

15And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

16A lei e os profetas duraram até João; desde então é anunciado o reino de Deus, e todo o homem emprega força para entrar nele.

16The law and the prophets {were} until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

17E é mais fácil passar o céu e a terra do que cair um til da lei.

17And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

18Qualquer que deixa sua mulher, e casa com outra, adultera; e aquele que casa com a repudiada pelo marido, adultera também.

18Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from {her} husband committeth adultery.

19Ora, havia um homem rico, e vestia-se de púrpura e de linho finíssimo, e vivia todos os dias regalada e esplendidamente.

19There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:

20Havia também um certo mendigo, chamado Lázaro, que jazia cheio de chagas à porta daquele;

20And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,

21E desejava alimentar-se com as migalhas que caíam da mesa do rico; e os próprios cães vinham lamber-lhe as chagas.

21And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.

22E aconteceu que o mendigo morreu, e foi levado pelos anjos para o seio de Abraão; e morreu também o rico, e foi sepultado.

22And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23E no inferno, ergueu os olhos, estando em tormentos, e viu ao longe Abraão, e Lázaro no seu seio.

23And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24E, clamando, disse: Pai Abraão, tem misericórdia de mim, e manda a Lázaro, que molhe na água a ponta do seu dedo e me refresque a língua, porque estou atormentado nesta chama.

24And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25Disse, porém, Abraão: Filho, lembra-te de que recebeste os teus bens em tua vida, e Lázaro somente males; e agora este é consolado e tu atormentado.

25But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26E, além disso, está posto um grande abismo entre nós e vós, de sorte que os que quisessem passar daqui para vós não poderiam, nem tampouco os de lá passar para cá.

26And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that {would come} from thence.

27E disse ele: Rogo-te, pois, ó pai, que o mandes à casa de meu pai,

27Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

28Pois tenho cinco irmãos; para que lhes dê testemunho, a fim de que não venham também para este lugar de tormento.

28For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

29Disse-lhe Abraão: Têm Moisés e os profetas; ouçam-nos.

29Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

30E disse ele: Não, pai Abraão; mas, se algum dentre os mortos fosse ter com eles, arrepender-se-iam.

30And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

31Porém, Abraão lhe disse: Se não ouvem a Moisés e aos profetas, tampouco acreditarão, ainda que algum dos mortos ressuscite.

31And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
